6.****** If two close relatives (son and father or young relative and old relative etc.) visit each other after long time, they keep each other in their arms, then the older is kissing the younger and the younger is kissing the hands of the older or elder.
It says if they have not seen each other after a long time and it mentions father or old relative. I already said except for this, otherwise it does not make sense in pashtunwali because of the emphasis of equality. Jamaldeen says it is a common practice when your source claims it only happens if loved ones have not seen each other for a long time. This confirms what I have said that it is more common in western culture so that makes you westernized.
But from where I come from, I have never seen it, long time or not.
Instead of explaining that you have not seen it, your talking in a way that reveals your an out(side)r.
I think you did not get my point.
We don't kiss hands, we shake hands and hug with males.
But when we go to our female elders' house like grand mother or aunt house they kiss us on our forehead as it is very common. But kissing or shaking hands with women does not exist in our area.
In khost I never saw younger kissing elders hands, its depands where you from.....
An peopel should stop calling others westernised or that they forget there cultre, just becuase we are all Pashtuns doesn't mean that we do every thig the same.
-_-
in my family we kiss mostly women's hands, mother, aunts(if they are older),grandmas.
greeting them, they will kiss your head and when sliding their hand off you kiss the palm of the hand.offcourse not in a bowing manner.
we also kiss hand of grandpas.
we even say "las dey chapoma" on the phone to grands LOL

I believe forgiveness is the key to your unhappiness.
Wow u guys need to relax a bit it was just a joke
And then when I get serious about things these same people tell me to stop being so serious
So what is it then ??
Just cuz someone says ur westernized does not make u one
Kissing hands is a preference if u want to u can and if u don't want to u don't have to
It has to do with politeness if u consider this elder to be a really nice person and deserving a hand kiss u can kiss it
Me personally I only do this tto very old women only one old man lives here in our city that I kissed his hand he is like 90yrs old and I only see him like every few years

It's youngsters kissing old folks hands,
If ur a guy and ur lady date is kissing ur hand that's pretty weird I may say
But if u kiss a girls hand and ur a dude it can be awkward at times that's just me lol
