  • The Pashtuns are big, proud, and strong.

It’s snowing in Shamorgar, a little Pakistani mountain village near the border to Afghanistan. Ramadan is over. The harvest is in. Corn, onions, potatoes, and tomatoes are being stored for the winter.

It’s calm in the village. A blacksmith is repairing hooks, rakes, shovels, and plows. The owner of the general store opens for business. The muezzin calls to prayer. His voice echoes across the vast landscape.

The Pashtuns are big, proud, and strong. The men speak softly, are seldom loud. They themselves say they can perform the most grueling tasks and are not afraid because they have been chosen by Allah to do so.

That’s why they are generally the ones who make the long journey from the mountains in the north to Southern Baluchistan. Here they scrap huge ships. Piece by piece they cut apart the gigantic hulls until all that remains are small sections of steel plate.

This brings to perspective how fickle our lives, and how lucky some of us are, sitting behind PCs, laptops, BBs and iPads. I am going to go and send money back home for the poorest ones in my family.

Others will commit suicide in such situations or fall to the lowest low,but they do not give up,they struggle and struggle in their life,no pain no gain.
High achievement always takes place in the framework of high expectation.

What determination? Nothing of that sort here. The only thing it indicates is, we are a nation of raw/crude laborers under-developed human resource-wise and without any good skill---and that we are trying to be contented with our situation through religious fatalism.

It is an irony that the poster of this thread i.e., the resistance3 titled it as "Strong, brave, bla bla bla ----" in an effort to glorify poverty and fatalistic complacency. I don't know why the outsiders admire in us the attributes one sees in the less-evolved/less-developed. But it is also a fact that usually the more developed admires the simplicity and innocence of the less-developed (although never wants these things in themselves). British colonialist also had an admiration for the "sturdy" Pashtun in the "wild wild" "Pathan borderland".

One must appreciate the hard work of these folks though.

There are other ways of looking at this. We should not take pride in Pashtuns being used as labourers solely. The thanks is about the spirit, not the economic 'slavery'.

We can rightly take pride in honest hard work. Imagine if that level of determination was channelled into Pashtun betterment. Pashtuns should be represented in all economic sectors, especially positions of influence.

The Irony is yours, if you look close enough you'll realize that those are the words of the documentarians and not mines. Nonetheless I agree with them.

Where you see poverty I see determination, where you see complacency I see survival of the fittest. FYI, Pashtun are very poor, and this is reality that you like to shove under the sand because it exposes your world of posting beautiful pictures of mountains, valleys, chickens and goats. I apologize for disturbing your self deluding contribution to this platform, but a doze of reality is far much better than utopian and myopic (your words btw) wet dreams of self entitled Pashtun custodians such as yourself

Now, what are you and Khostai, going to do about it? When was your last donation to these Pashtuns? When was your last practical contribution to these poor Pashtuns? You want to ask mines, I wont tell because I dont brag. But let's just say it's probably more than you earn in a month. You know, Ramadan came, and poor Pashtun got to eat....no?

Here is reference in case you need: http://www.pashtunforums.com/showthread.php?t=29789

Now back to your usual "great contributions".

What are you going to do about it? What have you done about it?

Don't feel sorry for them, they don't need your pity. Their poverty is their burden. Why are you shamed for them when they are not? They are proud of their labor, so we are proud of them. Instead of having a pessimistic defeatist mentality maybe putting your money where your mouth is would be better.

I hope this has encouraged you to reach deep down in your PURE PASHTUN pockets, and grab as much as you can to give to these poor Pashtun. Yet from experience, as a Pakhto matal goes, sumra ghata charga, humra tanga koona. The fatter the chicken, the tighter the ******* to lay an egg.

                        LOL

Listen you littel biatch. You are just really dum. I sayed that there is nothing being PROUD of poverty, even in the begining the man says we Pashtuns are really poor and thats the reason he does this job. Theres nothing in being PROUD of this condition, being pROUD of this is the same for me that you mean that the work he does is good and so it doesn't need any change. Meybe you don't understand the meaning of the word "PROUD". Just look it up before you atach it to everything that Pashtuns does. Before you know it, you will be even PROUD when some Pashtuns are cleaning the houses of your punjabi masters. Would you be PROUD then too?

For me being PROUD on this, is the same as being PROUD on child labour and calling the kids big and stong and PROUD. -_-

The stupidity of some members on this form has no limits.

I donate what I can. And I send money to Afghanistan not only to family. In Belgium they were collecting money for the orphans, and my family donated, they do that every coupel of months to the organisation, that collects it on Afghan gatherings.
SO stop talking **** like you do something and we don't. If I had more money and power I would do much more. So why don't you tell us what kind of good deed you have done? How many milions have you spend on Afghanistan oh nobel one?
