Pakol or Lungee?

Which do you prefer?

Pashtuns style lungee's are pretty much exclusive to us, while pakols are also worn by non pashtuns. though, i think pakols make us look far more badass.

Both are regional. You can wear pakols if you are in jeans and get away with it (you know what I mean). Not sure how this would look if you tried to match 'western' wear with a lungi. For that it almost exclusively has to be a kameez/khat partug look.

Had a friend fix up a lungi for me for Eid once, that stayed in position all day. Reckon I might try it myself at some point .

Ever come across the pakols with a feather tuft at the front? I think that's a kind of Chitrali look.

Lungee = Mullah Omar

Karakul Hat = Jinnah, Karzai

There is no better hat than the songkok = Malaysian/Indonesian hats.




Russian hats are fine too.



But I'll stick to my Berber Turban.

Southern..Pashtuns...hardly wear Pakols.

in loya paktia and waziristan most people wear pakol unless they are important.

khost = pakol is preferred.

paktia = pakol is preferrred.

paktika = south, east - pakol, north and west - lungi.

waziristan - pakol is preferred.

people in these areas generally have long hair and wear a pakol. i dont like pakols because they are itchy so i wear lungi.

My father had an Karakul hat, it was really soft, I like them they look really classy :P, and it was made of the fur of a dead scheep foetuses, men say its never made from a living one, becuase the fur of the foetus is really soft..... To bad that Karzai wears it all the time .
And pakol is only prefered in rigion were the winter is cold you can't wear pakol during hot summers its basicaly a winter hat actually, thats way masoud had it.

Ahmad shah masood and his gang came to kunar they looked like wahshey and got their pakols in there ,business was good for kunaris.

This made me laugh alot. In afghanistan when you are "sar torai" you look like wahshee.
