What the hell are you talking about. Peshawar was cultureless before afghans gave it culture. It were afghans that actually pashtunized the city. Afghans consider peshawarites unclean, most peshawarites envied our weddings and actually learned how to celebrate.
The weirdest pashtuns in the whole pashtunland are in peshawar. no offense but that is my observation.

In a way you're right... perhaps it is too much urdu influence in Peshawar. I guess urbanized Pashtuns are different and Peshawar is highly urbanized with an environment that is actually akin to other Pakistani cities like Lahore and Karachi.

Thats why its perhaps impossible for the religious bunch to even accept the fashion, music and movie industry of Peshawar as part of culture at all.

I meant no offense either. I was just explaining to killzai the thinking in Peshawar and even in Karachi...

As far as culture is concerned I guess all that can be said is people judge culture with a different eye.

in fact he wants to write a biased book and demonising pashtuns is a bad thing.
look how he speaks about pashtun women wearing shutterclok burqa in home?
good think is now we know what kind of book he wants to write.
one in which the center of pashtun cultural is peshawer while we pashtuns know the centre of pashtun cultural deviation, prostitution, hijras is Peshawer city.
Also this city is extremely affected by the hindu culture of pakistan.

so he tries to defame the true identity of Pashtuns for the deformed corrupt and degenerate activities in Peshawer.
even though majority peshawer is also conservative Pashtuns and not some hinduwised pakis.

and the way he talks about Afghans in Peshawwer and blames it on some peshaweri friends.

you and your book belong in garbage ,matter of fact in the filthy ganges river.
Ayat 109:6, "To you be your Faith, and to me mine."

Shadowgovernor, it is hard for me to understand what Islam you people follow. Khadija the wife of the prophet was a businesswoman and offered to marry him herself. I cannot accept that the only role for women is to be locked up in the house. If we are to advance as a society we cannot ignore 50% of our population which is women. They need a role in the National economy.

We could get along better if you be more tolerant. But tolerance is just not in the average Taliban sympathizers blood. The issue is every Pashtun has a differing opinion about various things. One guy says Kandahar is the capital, another Paktia/Paktika, another Peshawar... we need to accept that and understand each has his own thinking. Whats true for me may not be true for you.

I wasn't insulting Afghans. I was just speaking of the thought process due to which persecution of Afghans occurs in Peshawar. Do you deny Afghans are persecuted and sometimes mistreated in Peshawar? Afghans definitely think so... they have told me personally.

HaviZSultan, I am not a refugee. My grandfather went to Karachi from Paktika and many people from my tribe are settled there. I am not from Karachi because I was born in Nottingahm and I grew up in Parachinar, Islamabad and Tank. However, I am now living in London. The guy singing the song Khushal posted called "nan der rata yadegi da paktia di ghro sarona..." is from my tribe his name is Rahman Kharoti and I know him personally. He also lives in Karachi.

Kandahar is a special place for Pashtuns but I am only concerned about Paktia since I have never been to Kandahar and hence have attatchment to it.

And Wazir and Maseed women, similarly to those from Tank and DI Khan, also Bannu and Lakki and Karak, do not wear shalwar kameez. they wear kaali. and no pashtn woman wear a burqa in her home.

You have never been to Waziristan, I have. I know Wazirs and Maseeds, you rely on the internet to get information.

And the video of peshawar is funny, women wearing men cloths speaking Urdu and Eglisch and Pashto at the same time is not a thing that you will ever see in Khost. Let alone a women whitouth a burqa whith tons of make-up.
I know, im not talking about khostai women, im saying that there is now a growing khost film industry which is like those of peshawar and jalabad but they speak khostwola pashto.

You have told me something interesting for which I cannot come to thank you enough. You are right I have never been to Waziristan before. But my contact, a Burki living in Peshawar claimed their women wear Shalwar Kameez... maybe its different for differing tribes. I also checked on the internet, wikipedia and it had some information about the ganr kat for married women but that was it. I have not even heard of the Kaali and would be grateful if you could give me more information about it. Even post a picture perhaps. In another thread of course.

This would mean that you are from- sorry to use the term from amongst our own people-from the Pakistani side... and what you have told me is an example of our army being used to kill our own people and failing miserably to get the militants. Unless your friend was a militant there is no reason for this... and there is still no reason to kill his family.

How was your friend killed? Did you take the case to courts? The army cannot continue fighting a war it is incapable of winning, IK is right. It hasn't had even moderate success in this war. Not a single terrorist commander has been killed. Except Swat & Muslim Khan... who doesn't even appear in the media anymore we have nothing to show in this war except the deaths of 40000 people... most of them Pashtun.

Yeah, I know... I was just wondering what talibani households do. Make their women wear Burka 24 hours or something in case a male sneaks into the house or something. I mean makes sense. If they want to hide their women from the rest of the world...

I am not from the Pakistani side becuase I am an Afghan. Also "militants" are our people too. they are fighting for becuase we are sick of the way your government treats us. they build schools for punjab and sindh but drops bombs on pashtunkhwa.

My friend was killed in 2006 by a drone attack.

                          "Court" that makes me laugh.

this is a kaali. dont write books about pashtuns if you dont even know their basic clothing and culture.

Oh God are you serious :S. I like films and I know films can be good to spread you culture but if you say that they make in Khost films similar to the Pakistany ones, then I am really dissapointed becuase those film are really bad, I once saw some fragments of the Pashtuns films that were made in Pakistan and really I was really ashamed of it, I saw fat women whith tons of make-up dancing like they are on drugs, old men acting like they are teenage boys :S.
It was horibel, But are you sure about this can you post a link or something about the films???
