I am also extremely worried about the increasing distance between the Pashtuns of Afghanistan and Pakistan ,,there is a need of more songs like this otherwise Pashtuns on both sides of the border will deem themselves as different races,,,,yes races because already they belong to two different nations ,,,Pakistani and Afghanistani or afghan,,,,,,,,,
Pashtuns on both sides of the durand line belong to one family, one blood, one language, one culture , one past but now being being part of two different countries,,distance is increasing between them.Pashtuns in Paksitan are coming under influence of Panjabis and Urdu speakers and Pashtuns in Afghanistan are coming under influence of Tajiks and Persian speakers.
Instead of highlighting the differences we may suggest how Pashtuns on both sides can be culturally and linguistically united ?????Their cultural and linguistic unity is the only possibility as their political unity may be a dream
What about your comments that how distance between Pashtuns on both sides of the durand line can be reduced and they may come together atleast culturally???? They must be realistic in their approach. Some Pashtuns on both sides want merger of Pashtuns areas which is very difficult now as how Afghanistan will leave its non -Pashtun areas to be merged with Pashtun areas for a greater Pashtunistan ,,,impossible,,,and how Pakistan will let its Pashtun areas to be separated,,,,,,thats would be too impossible for Pakistan ,,,,,,
I wish we discuss here how Pashtuns from both sides of the durand line can be united at least culturally, psychologically and liguistically if not politically.
I REQUEST FRIENDS FROM PAKISTAN AND AFGHANISTAN GIVE THEIR FEED BACK ON THE ISSUE
As the distance is increasiing and we must learn from nations who speak the same language and have the same culture but are politically different ,,,,,for example all Arab,Spanish,German, French ,English etc speaking people are not the citizens of the same countries but psychologically ,linguistically , culturally they have enormous ties and meet each other in all such events and try to develop linkages which further strenghten thier bonds
We pashtuns on both sides of the border if cant become one nation politically at least can feel one ethnic group and sons of the same father living in different houses ,,,,,,,We must encourage connections with each other by marriages, conferences, and friendships. We must feel near to an Afghan Pashtun than to a Pakistani Panjabi and vice versa

We may also ponder over the the increasing distance of Pashto language spoken in Pakistan and Afghanistan. There is a marked difference in vocabulary of the Pashto spoken in Pakistan and Afghanistan .Afghanistani Pashto is influenced by Persian while Pakistani Pashto by Urdu or English . The best or worst example is the use of suffix AST in Afghanistani Pashto and the use of Urdu numbers by Pakistani Pashtuns.
Here the solution is using pure Pashto words neither of Persian nor Urdu nor English. This will bridge the linguistic difference
The difference of accent is geographical not political . it does not depend on Pakistan or Afghanistan its not East West. its North -South
There are two main dialects in Pashto language.
Hard dialect.......... spoken in areas like Peshawar, Mardan, Swat, Malakand, Dir, Kohat, Paracinar, Jalalabad, Bajawar, Mohmand, Khyber, etc mainly in northern part of Pashto speaking areas. Here the pure Pashto words are pronounced as kh and g not sh and j if the word comprises the sound. as the word for fine is prounced here as kha not sha. The word for beard is pronounced as gira not jira. From the pure Pashto words I mean not words borrowed from other languages .for example. the word khalis is pronounced in both the dialects the same as it is not a pure PashtO word and such words are written with Arabic khe not Pashto khin
soft dialect......... spoken in SOUTHERN areas like Banu, Karak, Waziristan, Baluchistan, Qandahar, Paktya etc. Here the above sounds are pronounced as sh and g . fine is sha here and beard is jira here.
A Pashtun should try for orientation in both the dialects or accents.THERE IS NOTHING TO DO SPECIAL . It is not necessary to learn both the dialects as both are easily mutually intelligible. Accents of Qandahar and Peshawar or Mardan are the strandard accents throug out the world.
There are then minute differences in Pashto spoken in different areas or provinces in Pakistan and Afghanistan ,,for example Pashto spoken in Waziristan is different in a way from the Pashto spoken in Karak ,both belongs to the soft dialect area,,,,,or the Pashto in Kohat from the Pashto in Charsada both of hard dialect areas the same is Pashto in Paktya and Qandahar or Pashto of Kunarh and Jalal abad
My suggestion is that when a Pashtun from the same district or province meet a Pashtun from his own district or area or province then they may speak in their own accent/dialect but when they meet a Pashtun from another area then its better to use Peshawari or Qandahari standard Pashto ,,the same for internet ,,,for example instead of minzh ,,Waziristani accent ,,its better to use mong or mog or muzh ,,,,,,for better communication ,,thus the linguistic distances among Pashtuns will also be minimized ,,,,,,,
This accent/dialect problem is not only with Pashto its always with languages ,,for examples English has many accents and dialects ,,but they have the received pronunciation/RP for BBC or CNN
Remember that both the dialects are written in the same script . Thats why you see special Pashto letters for khe and ga

Althu Dari is the dominant language in Afghanistan , still Pashto has an official status and is more in use than in Pashtun areas in Pakistan. This is strange that READING and writing of Pashto is almost extinct now in Pakistan while its speaking and listening still exists in Pakistan.
The fault lies again with Pakistani Pashtuns. There is no ban from Panjab or agencies on the use of Pashto at least in ones private life. In Afghanistan I met many Muhammadzai Pashtuns who talk in Dari and know nothing of Pashto. King Zahir Shah being racially Pashtun did not understand a single word of Pashto and used to hire services of translators if some one was talking to him in Pashto.
I have rarely seen an Afghan Pashtun who intensely hate a Pakistani Pashtun but the gap between Pashtuns living in these two countries is increasing.
Pashtuns are responsible as well as only solvers for all their problems including the increasing gap between the Pashtuns on both side of the borders . I wish the bridge of the distance between Pashtuns on two sides of the Durand line should be minimized not further intensified.

Thanx for the worry that it may not be just copy paste. I appreciate this concern as here creativity may make a difference . Copy paste may be useful for information but not for a great change or a creative effort.
All these are my own write ups but may be you can find it some where else too in this or modified shape as I usually participate ion Pashto and Pashtuns related discussions but these are my original thoughts, feelings, worries, suggestions and heartfelt desires expressed in shape of words.
Bridging the differences between Pashtuns from Afghanistan and Pakistan is my life time dream and I wish these two brothers living in two or many homes may consider themselves one and may bridge all the linguistic, cultural, social, sentimental and emotional differences and may continue identyfying themselves as one family members. All hurdels, misconceptions and divergences because of living in two or more countries must be removed in a practical and efefctive way.

Off course. We love n respect afghanistan. But people say porkistan, pakeezistan, napakisan, fakistan for our country. Tell me is it fair??? If yes then why cannot we say Alganistan, ajnabistan, ajeebistan or any other bad name for Afghanistan? We can. But we dont. Bcz our parents have taught us to respect others. I know that the Pushtuns in Afghanistan are ajazaan khalaq! not represented well in Govt or Politics and always finding themselves at the receiving end of regimes with heavy Northern Alliance influence.
I wish they get more resources, education, peace and stability, development, I wish we can help them in this as well.

This reminds me of an old joke. When the government of Khwaja Nazim uddin, a former Pakistani Prime minister, was sacked in 1954, his telephone line was turned off just in case he complains to the British Queen. lol
note. Pakistan got independent in 1947.

And yes there had been another clown, Ghulam Muhammad, being a govener general of Pakistan during the 50s who too had sacked several governements, himself a completely paralyzed person who couldn't speak and would be interpreted by his American female Personal Secretary.Last edited by khyaal; 04-17-2010, 03:58 PM.

You just proved my point. You can compare Ali ghulam Jinay with Karzai and Karghal but what make me vomit is you are comparing the ghulam with the great Khoshal khan khattak.Originally posted by Khushal Khan Khattak View Postha ha ha! Nice one,I feel like wer'e tabar and tarbooran already ! Nice
