As you all would probably know by now,
I am related to Khushal Khan Khattak in the 13th degree, so he was my grand father,
I am Khattak on both sides, both my father and mother are Khushal Khan's grand children.
My village is in the District Mardan, Pakistan but I was born in Peshawar.
As for history, we are Khsuhal Khan's children from his wife who was the daughter of the chief of the Yousafzai tribe of Mardan/Sawabi. This was when Khushal Khan launched his campaign of Swat.
Most of my family are either Khattak or Yousafzai. And we are the Khattaks who speak Pukhto not Pushto, by that I mean we speak the Yousafzai dialect.
The real Pukhto, ha ha ha

OMG! That means you have Swati blood? Awwww!! We're TOTALLY blood-relatedOriginally posted by Laila View PostMy greats are originially Iraqi from the Quraish tribe. They then moved to Swat in the 1700s-1800s. They intermarried with Swatis for lots of generations.
Swat ... think about it ... just the NAME brings peace to one's heart and soul, no? :D (This is not to mean, of course, that I consider Swatis to be better than others, or other Pukhtuns! Not at all. 'S just ... I'm Swati, you see!

Yes Yousufzais are another sub-tribe of Duranis like Barakzai, Popalzai, Alakozai, Achakza, Noorzai etc. They went to Kabul and after tresspassing in to Ghilzai turf they were pushed towards east by mainly Sangar's tribe. Crzay aas, Snagar.. hahah lolOriginally posted by shlombayWait Yusufzai are originally from Kandahar?
Many Yousufzais remained in Kabul and we know some Yousufzais (family friends) who are from south of Kabul in Logar. There were few Yousufzai atristrocracts and royalists as well, along with other Durranis. I can't recall that famous presenter of the national channel something Yusufzai (we have old videos at home, my family wathces them some times). According to my mum, when she was young and in school, many of the girls in her age who spoke Dari would come to her and tell her how they are Pashtun and Yusurfzai, so many of them have probably adopted Dari in Kabul. That is why Kabulis, although they speak Dari are more like Pashtuns than Tajiks etc. Some of them are aparently in Kunar too. I know my stuff too.lo

I always thought they were from Paktia?Originally posted by shlombayWait Yusufzai are originally from Kandahar?
Yup yup! But you know, I am actually still confused? Because as far as I know my grandma (and therefore your grandpa) are Tajiks who speak Pukhto, but apparently they are Dari speaking Pukhtoons?Originally posted by Laila View PostOne of our own members, Shayesta, shares the same great grandfather as me (my mom's grandfather)
Aren't those people with 'Zai' attached to their names actually Pukhtoons? Maybe your mother is a Dari speaking Pukhtana?Originally posted by Ghilzai View PostTajik/Popalzai from my mothers side.Gar Jahanum Sakhtam Ferdaws Ham Mesazamat
