  • Kiri Afghana!

I've been asking alot of elders of my roots, supposdly my family came to Kiri Afghana (Small Afghanistan) during Mahmood Ghazni's rule. Its a small village in Punjab and basically they lived there until Pakistan became a sovereign country.

What I'm thinking is thats a looongg ass time ago, how do you maintain your cultural identity for that long? We've almost basically lost the language, the new generation knows nothing of Pashtun culture...

Lol I ask alot of questions on this forum but do you think I could be more of a punjabi then a pashtun...? My great grandfather would walk around in the "pindh" with a pakol and a long reddish beard, and mostly all of the elders walked around in traditional chadders at night with pakols, but now most of my family speaks punjabi...

And has anyone ever heard of this Kiri Afghana?

Thanks for the help fellow Pakhtuns/Pashtuns

    never heard of Kiri Afghana.

Afghans/pashtuns have always lived in closed communites if they were lets say in places like punjab etc.they would always explicitly call their place as Afghan or pashtun somthing.

a pashtun is pashtun when he realises he is one,If you guys speak punjabi its not something negative as long as you learn Pashto and i think PF will teach you very well.

    se haal dey?

                It's pronounced 'kala'.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

Buddy it does not matter what or who were your great grand father...what matter is where is your royalty lays...i know a few Punjabis that had settled in afghanistan during Amanullah khan rule---Hindustani freedom fighters...their decedents are some most pro-Afghanistan you can ever know. Then there are those with Durrani, Lohdi and...last names but are the most anti-Afghanistan sob.
If your black or white, or yellow…as long as you are for freedom, independence and justice then you’re my brother.
