  • Difference between Pakhtuns and Pashtuns

Is there a difference between Pakthuns and Pashtuns? Are they from different parts of Afghanistan?

  • #2
    None.

Pashtun = Pakhtun. It's dialect, nothing more.

In the northern parts of the Pashtoon (Pashtun) belt in Pakistan and Afghanistan, they say Pakhtun, in the southern part, they say Pashtun. The language is the same, despite some regionalisms. We have a script that can be read by all users of the language and that cuts across any differences once you're a fluent reader.

I think the only difference is the K and S. Sounds abit funny since we do have a Kha dialect and Sha dialect, prefer to stick with my own Sha dialect, and since I am a Pashtun Stalin of some sort, I believe, the Sha dialect should be inforced upon all Pashtuns hehehe!

Real Pashtuns speak with the Sha dialect..............Real Men speak with a Sha.........just kidding.

I love the Sheen dialects. Sounds soft and poetic on the ears. My northern Kheen is supposedly harder and more guttural to the non-acquainted. Both serve their purpose and both are equal.

I personally like your Yusufzai/Swati dialect a lot. At times, I find the Sha dialect to be a bit too soft.

              Hehe.
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

One thing that I do quite unconsciously from time to time is use forms like "sha" and "khwash" over "kha" and "khwakh" (usually when I'm in a less formal situation with family). This is not the way most Swatis speak and when I was in Afghanistan, an old Mujahid who was a bit of an expert on regional dialects said that he couldn't put my dialect down to being Swati all the time.

I have been influenced for sure.

DA ZAMONG DA JABA KHAYEST DAY CHI HUM SHEEN PASHTU WAYU AO HUM KHEEN,,,
There are pashtuns of the same tribe speaking different dielect .
Today ,,kheen (northren dielect) soken by large a number of pashtuns.for example the pashtuns of kabul province, nangarhar, laghman, kunar, kundus, half of gazni, wardagis, paktya (mangals, turi, zadran) speak pakhtu. On the same line to the east of durandline the peshwar valley pashtuns(peshawar, charsada, swaby, mardan, parts of nokhar),momand, orakzai, kurma, hangu, dir bajawor, buner and malakand region speak pakhtu.Farthermore to the abaseen region(distt of tor ghar, batagram, ogy, mashvani, pakhly and northwest of mansehra) also speak pakhtu.
The pashtu dielect in afghanistan spoken in the provices of paktika, kandar, southren gazni, zabul, helmond, north of nimroz, eastren farah,rozgan/urzugan .
In pashtunkhwa pashtu dielect spoken in parts of nokhar distt, the whole of banu, karak, laki marwat,di khan, waziristan, kohat, queta, zjo, loralai, gulistan,c haman, zyarat etc

The dielect of our ancester was pashtu cus our tribe also migrated from the sulaiman mountain. We speak pakhtu but still have some pashtu words like ,,basha,,for bakha (bird),,shorwa for khorwa, reshtenay for rekhtenay etc.
So it is all one language and i am sure the person created this thread to make you fight eachother.

This thread remind me of one herati man.He was not anti-pashtun or anything but just said that if pashtuns get pashtunistan then they will fight eachother for the name issue whether to name it pashtunistan or pakhtunistan.
Sometime i think he said that for joke but pashtun nature is like that. They never stand for their national pride, unity and freedom but pointing guns on eachother for personal issues.
Thats the reason for their suffering,,,,,,,,.
