  • I love Pashtun/Pakhtun culture!

i just love it. It is so admirable the way they are so brave.

I want to understand why these Pashtun/Pakhtuns are one of the peoples in the world who have time and time again won against so many others. Their determination, faith, and culture are so pure and strong.

Pashtun peopel can not handle its defeat. The will do anything to come out as a winner. Even if it costs the live of the halve of the population, even if everething is destroyd we will fight till the end, thats way we alway win. No matter how strong you are if you wnat to kolonise Afghanistan you have to kill almost every Pashtun, any other way you wouldn't succeed.

We always "win" because we are determined. However, this is not always a good thing. Pashtuns must realize that war in the 21st century is not through weapons, but through education.

The tenacity and resilience of Pashtuns in the wake of multiple foreign invasions is very impressive. As someone with libertarian leanings (think 'Ron Paul') I am interested in the dynamics of the traditionally decentralized system among Pashtuns of rule by elders and assemblies of elders (جرگي). At the same time, the question occurs as to how such decentralized government has not produced in Pashtunistan (if I may use the term that way) a freer society than one might expect. Or has the decentralization produced a freer society than we hear of in the media?

You're viewing things from the mythologized stained glass of pashtun historical accounts made by our self deluded and egocentric elders.

I too used to believe all this junk about us, but as I grew older I began to realize much of it is either fabricated, exaggerated or really examples of pyrrhic victories.

Pashtuns are like any other people, we have conquered and we have been conquered. We have the noble and the wretched alike and all inbetween alike. We have romantic idealizations of what makes a Pashtun, which practically no one living today really embodies, perhaps no one ever did.

Of course you'll have many who want to maintain this cosmetically appealing facade of the "rugged courageous puritan warrior" up, they'll sweep all the gritty jagged parts of Pashtun history for a smooth and streamlined one.

Pashtuns have many beauties; they have the will to survive, the pings and pangs of life have made them hardened and aggressive people, and for wht it's worth we have potential. We just seldom use it.

It's true Pashtuns will try to personify themselves as these pure , faith-minded, moralsitic culture, but only when it is convenient. Despite our apparent virtues we are mired with terrible flaws

There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

                    1. Pashtunwali and Islam have a lot in common. Islam gives us the determination ,endurance, persistence, resilience and the warrior spirit needed to buckle our adversaries regardless of their pomp & technological/military prowess.

                    2. We are humble towards the poor and fiercely merciless towards oppressors hence we walk away victorious time and again.

Thanks for liking our culture, we are no different than you.
O'faithful hearken thy vezir, for he promises them another Gandamak and for the ancestors of Hari Nalwa a similar fate has been sealed. We shall shake the foundations of their inner sanctums, written in gold and immortal will remain this endeavor of Afghans.

Your posts are very frank, and unbiased.

In other words, I like them.
