A fascinating link to [potential] proof of Mongolian contribution to the lineage of Pashtuns:
In isolated parts of Waziristan (especially) and the tribal regions spanning Afghanistan and Pakistan there is a game called the ankle bone game. The more isolated, and less disturbed (by either persianization or urdobanization) the Pashtun tribe is, the more familiarity they have with this game.
Those of us that thought this game was confined to Afghanistan or the Turkic people ought to think again... I am proposing this link because I saw a Mongolian lady the other day who carried with her an ankle bone and told me of a game originating in her homeland since the time of Genghis:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shagai
The familiarity this description of hers had to the Pashtun version was striking to say the least.
We claim this link as a potential first on Pashtunforums. Otherwise, watch someone show me up and tell me that this link was already known and discovered by someone 100 years ago.
Obviously many may know of the game, but what I am saying is novel here is the proposal of the game originating in Mongolia.
In the Pashtun regions on the Afghan side of the border it may be called bojolbauzi
