^ my children's ability to speak pashto does matter to me.
on a personal level i find it pretty sad when you make a reference to something in pashto language or afghan culture that your children or wife can't relate too. not just pashto but any other language or cultural background.
there will always be that emptiness in your relationship with the other...i can't imagine it being over looked but may be it's not as important to someone else as it is to me.

Look guys try to understand what i am trying to say... I am NOT against the good aspects of Pashtuns neither am i against the language etc etc.

In fact i have nothing against the Pashtuns nor am I ashamed of my ethnicity.

What I am trying to say is that only jumping up and down about the language or making hoo haa about OUR GLORIOUS HISTOOOOOORYYYYYY will not get you anywhere.

It is not the Language, it is not the AK47, its is not the ANP antics that makes a Pashtun a Pashtun. A Pashtun becomes a Pashtun when he act and behaves in certain way. When he os she will adhere to a "code of conduct".

I guess he has some own personal problems so he is trying to make himself feel better by attacking Pukhtane and justifying it using Islam.

well, we are dari speaking pashtuns and its my family's culture to marry another pashtun and its not important if he/she can speak pashtu or not.
But I am different and might marry someone from anywhere if I fall for her!

^ all of my pakhtane childhood friends that i know of got married to tajik men.

its like a very common phenomena nowadays. the ones that havn't yet, express to me their desire to do so. it's like a nightmare. the girls who were pure pakhtane and like my sisters. not one, not two, but i can name about 8 off the top of my head...

they think pakhtun men are bad to women, etc. there is some truth to it but i think its mainly western pakhtun men that everyone hates.

usually the western pakhtun men here drink, attend nightclubs, are used-and-abused, etc. the kabulian here are secular but at the same time family-types so the righteous pakhtane end up choosing them.

Thanks, people actually are pessimistic about my choice....and even have been critical towards him. But overall, we are both happy and dont care what people say.

Me being here in the US, for me he completes the desire of traditional values and culture that I cherish to keep with me always, and pass onto my children.
