      • I think it's ok to marry non-Pashtun and non-Afghan but within limits

firstly a Born Muslim woman should ideally marry marry someone born Muslim, not a convert, and by born Muslim , they should come from a society or culture which has had Islamic Principles thoroughly integrated in their society. This produces most well balanced conditions

So if a woman marries a Panjabi, or Tajik or Uzbak, no big deal. Pashtuns are of many different origins. I'm a Ghaljay so I'm of Saka and Turkish origin. where as Durranis maybe from Hepthalite origins and people from Swat are Gandharans, who are related with Punjabis anyways. What counts is their culture is integrated with Islam.

However even then it is better women marry within their culture; Men usually carry a stronger personality so their identity carries more resolutely because even in a modern society feminine traits are softer and more delicate so women view males as Protectors and Administrators; therefore administration will be based on his identity. If males marry converts or Muslimat of other societies it doesn't have as much potential for adverse impact.

My mom is arabic and dad is Pashtun as many of you know, many people in my family , both men and women are married to Albanians, Turkish, Kurdish, Indians, Yemenis, Syrians, Lebanese, Egyptians, Palestinians, Saudis etc etc. Even one of my cousins is married to a Circassian lady. The key however is that they all held the same standards and values as Pashtuns.

Look for Sayyids in Kunar, Laghman, and Peshawar, they are Pashto speaking.

Swatis are beautiful.......go across the horizon and see if the grass is truly greener on the other side

If i personally knew you, i have a lot of beautiful Kunari and Laghmani cousins to recommend, but then that would be weird, especially through the net

Whilst no small part of Afghan societies problem is that it holds it's women back to the point of undermining it's development. I appove of your father. As when women are left to their own devices, they invariably start to do the wrong things.

                      • he's saying that although some aspects of afghan society over do things when it comes to restricting participation of women in society; and thus it adversely affects society

on the flipside if women were left to make their own choices independently they generally make the wrong ones.
