Praying Namaz and not knowing what or why we are parying. Sorry I don't want to generalize but we have people like that, who don't care about religion and only pretent that they care.Originally posted by Sitaara View Postwhat you like and dont like about Afghan and pashtun culture?Happy Ramadan everyone. ^ Nick i dont think thats an afghan specific problem, every single muslim ethnicity in the Af-Pak-Ind region pretty much beats Islam into their kids right from the beginning so you never really learn the meaningIt's enough that I know, Our time had a home, In your heart..Was a place..But the glass always breaks..

You are right as in the middle East but specially in Afghanistan 90% of people are not educated about Islam either. So What do they know of justice, when the mullah orders a young girl to be killed simply because her family wants to kill her. Because she was holding a guys hand. Guess how old she was 11 right and the boy was 12. where? in Herat. Don't ask me about details but she was only 11 for God's sake. That is injustice indeed but according to mullah it was haram. What is Haram? I want to ask. Taking someone's life isn't haram? Was the mullah educated about Islam? I don't think so! was he terrorist? Nope he wasn't just an idiot.Originally posted by emkhan View PostThis has nothing to do with terrorism. Terrorism grows where injustice is practised and people are not given their due rights.Last edited by Nick; 03-23-2011, 10:21 PM.Happy Ramadan everyone. Come on.... dont go after small happenings happens in the battlefield. what you need to do is to understand the whole game is going in the whole region. This is a game, played by international forces. there is no system there. its like a jungle now. everybody does what he wants.Originally posted by Nick View PostYou are right as in the middle East but specially in Afghanistan 90% of people are not educated about Islam either. Well this often happens in Herat and its a big problem now where as in 1970s according to many it wasn't. We have relitive in Herat and many of them complain about it, so regionally speaking Herat is a problem to what's happening to women, and it needs to be solves. Perhabs its mianly because Herat has media. I am sure this is happening in many regions of Afganistan and Pakistan's NWFP and other regions. But this is all due to stupidity of people. Right.Originally posted by emkhan View PostCome on.... dont go after small happenings happens in the battlefield. what you need to do is to understand the whole game is going in the whole region. If small problems are solves then bigger problems are easy to solve. Doesn't it? I mean simply educating the people is what it takes as an start up. Later we can move up. From people's point of view, I mean we are normal people we don't have any media nor Organization, so we shell start from small, and try to be realistic. Start with issues beyond our reach makes no sense. If one Communist sits in front of me, i sure can educate him to leave communism, but if I sit to convert China into Democracy, lol its not going to happen.Happy Ramadan everyone. i don't like the fact that we are extremely formal people... once we have a guest at home we really really really have to be careful about taking care of the guest, otherwise the guest will leave talking behind our back... (which most of the time happens even if we try our best)...
too much formality... "please have this, please sit here, please be comfortable, please eat, please take this, please take that, please this please that..."arghhh!
i don't like so much formality... a little mistake and my mom stares at us as if we just killed someone.

Our attitude towards women when they wish to pursue higher education.Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.
A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai
For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."
The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

in some cases talking to your wife or husband or referring to them by their names in front of their or your parents is apparently something to be ashamed of.
i once saw this one guy refusing his wife's request to hold the baby for a while because the guy's mother was in the room. i was not supposed to see this of course but i couldn't help the curiosity so i asked her later. it's said to be disrespectful.
