depends on the 'manufacturer'. Some are extremely good, some like the ones you described. I don't know about back-firing, but accuracy you need to watch out for in getting the real cheap ones from cheaper outlets.

There is not much of a gun market left, most of my extended relatives had to close their shops. Pakistani army had done a major operation there. There are a few shops open here and there, but from what I am told most shops are closed. Many of these shop owners have also joined Mangal Bagh Taliban.
I don't know why they call them "illegal", the Pakistani law in those areas does not apply. They were legal according to the laws of the people that lived in those regions. But due to material growth and slow domestication, many parts of the area has come under the state.
Also, the guy in this documentary, Khanabodosh Pathan, I wished someone would've slapped him for his attitude. He represented the locals as some sort of cavemen savages.

The so called illegal Gun market, despite its misuse, is a ray of hope for all those poor citizens of Pakistan who want to secure their families against the poor security situation in Pakistan wherein the security forces cannot even safeguard themselves against those who are desperate to take revenge for state-supported-injustices.

Some of the best in the world - you can buy classic guns dated from WW2 if you want but the the kalakov and khlashnivov's are just amazing. A lot of smuggled stuff passes through there too. My cousin bought an M16.Originally posted by randolph85 View Postwhat are the quality of these guns? i would be worried about firing a bullet from a gun that isnt well made. the gun could backfire or even blow up in ur hand.
This area is world re-knowned for gun smithing as its a family trade passed on from generations. I believe they even introduced the first type of "halal bullets", as a lot of the resin used to be made from pig-fat previously.
Oh and whoever mentioned blackwater obviously hasn't been there. There's lots of kids carrying gun there though.

What is this you are saying. Your there 24 hours a day monitering it. People like you are so blind that blackwater is patrolling your streets killing innocent children for fun and your pretending like your some authority on the issue. Go get a check up, a reality check up.Originally posted by KhyberKhan View Post.

I don't know about these blackwater agents, but I do know that in Quetta, it is very unsafe for foreigners. They can't just roam around the streets freely.
In fact even if your Pashtun from the West, people there keep an eye on you.
In Quetta, you are only safe if you have family there.

These agents are well armed and well trained. They move freely in pakistan with the blessing of the Pakistani military. They are a special people who have immunity from any law in the world because they are not considered agents of a foriegn country so their own country cant prosecute them and they cant be prosecuted in the country they opperate in because they are independent contractors hired to work in the country with diplomatic immunity. They are above the law and that is why they have a bad reputation and have no fear in doing what they want.

Yes I know what you are saying, but any person from the West that goes to those areas is unsafe whether a 'journalist' or blackwater agent.
For example, a pashtun from the West should only travel around with their cousins.
Walking around by yourself (and people can tell by the way someone walks) is pretty much an invitation to say "hey kidnap me, I'm from the West."
Its not easy.
