Kathak and Khattak Dance very Similar

Well apart from the similarity in names and the fact that Kathak has heavy Mughal (and possibly Central Asian) influence, there are a lot of dissimilarities between the two dance forms. For one, the sub-continental Kathak is a much more delicate and feminine dance form as proved by its emphasis on eye moevements and facial expressions. Khattak Attan as I see is more masculine and is similar to the Punjabi Bhangra in its heavy arm movements.
And body rotation and arm movement are prevalent in many other dance forms in the sub-continent. To use just that to connect these two is going a bit too far I think.

Katak vs khattak
AOriginally posted by MazloomYarMasud View Post
I just happened to stumble across a discussion about the Khattak Attan. The Khattak Attan is very different from the other Original Attans of the other tribes. The Khattak attan is mainly just spinning around with hardly any movement of the head but mainly the arms.
There is a classical Indian dance by the name of Kathak, which also sounds similar to the name Khattak, that processes the same spinning movement as one of the main dominant characteristics of the dance.
What do you guys think? Is Khattak Attan Actually a Indian dance or is highly influenced by the Indian Kathak that is why its so different from other forms of Attan.
Khattak is not Indian dance origin of hinduism is from Afghanistan. So it make connection. Katak mean story teller where khattak dance performers in remote villages still keep that heritage. But they don't have given chance in media or there is no support from government. Khattak dance got shorten by frontier constabulary to get fit for festivals but this way. It lost folk style and rhythem. First book of hido religion is said to written in eastern parts of afghanistanistan and swat. Costume of khattak and kattak dance is same. People who have chance to see original khattak type feel no difference in both.
Kind Regards
