    @Ghorzang, wrayun and feroza banu

I have heard that in gulf countries pashtuns of both countries live in same ghettos and are very close to each other. Situation in west seem quite different from there.

Since we don't live in gulf, it will be hard for us to give you an answer. However, I did spend few days with my cousins in Sharjah, where they work in the auto parts business (a lot of our Pakhtun brothers from KP are involved in it as well). There were more connections between lar aw bar Pashtuns in those regions compare to the west. I will point out 2 reasons for that; 1) They are all single working men, where tradition and customs don't play a major role in their lives. It is very easy for them to get a long with each other than they would if they had to deal with families, 2) most of the Pashtuns from Afghanistan are from Khost and Paktia. The young boys/men tend to get a long very well with Pashtuns of KP compare to Pashtuns of Logar, Wardak, Kandahar, Kabul and other regions. The same applies for Pashtuns of Nangarhar.

            Nice try
That is what i dont like about those who follow specific political agenda. You guys only describe your ideologies and thinkings not ground realities.

Come on man throw some light on topic.

My family is close friends with a lot of Tajiks and though we have a language barrier (except my Mum and Dad, because they can speak Dari), we have the same cultural and traditional background because we are both inhabitants of Afghanistan and can hence, relate to each other. So, although you have met such Tajiks who deny being Afghan, I have not.

You are gravely mistaken, we are not "Persianized" but in fact they are "Pashtunized". You see, there is a huge difference between Tajiks of Afghanistan and Tajiks of Tajikistan, the Tajiks from Afghanistan follow similar, if not, the same code as us, Pashtunwali. They embrace our traditional clothing and we have much to talk about when it comes to Afghanistan. They are more like us, that is why we feel a sense of comfort. But because they are more modernized and that is sadly at times confused with "Persianised", we still have a certain distance with them. This also answers this quote of yours:

Of course there are feelings of affection between us, as they too have fought for Afghanistan. And again, because we have some level of similarities with Tajiks because their social norms, lifestyle, etc is influenced by Pashtuns. Pakistanis are more along the lines of Indians. Pakistanis social norms, lifestyle, etc is influenced by Indians. They are very different from us, Pashtuns. There is no common ground on which we can relate to with them, except Islam.

The Pashtuns you have supposedly met are probably from Dari populated areas such as Kabul, a city where mainly Dari is the dominant language considering all the ethnic minorities who live there. Evidently, they would know more Dari than Pashto and they would feel more comfortable speaking it.

              Peace

Do you think we are so naive that we ignore the factors such as Dari being the dominemnt language in Afghanistan, pushto only being reconised as the official language a few decades ago of its 300 year history, the fact that pashtuns were expelled from areas in North Afghanistan and also they raped Pashtun women and murdered innocent Pashtuns.
I'm not a dude, dude. Pashto has always been the official language, but Dari came to be the official language as well, some years ago. I don't recall of such events in Northern Afghanistan, so I have no further comments about it.

Pashto is also taught, the Tajiks we know understand Pashto but they can't speak it very well. I know that Dari is nationalised in Afghanistan but that is simply because the other 50% or less speak it, it is for communication purposes and also because most of the literary works studied in Afghanistan (e.g. poetry) were written in Dari.

I will do no such thing. Anyway, you can't base racism from one person on the whole ethnicity. And can you give me his full name because there's no such person as Tajik Kadhir.

On Earth, actually. And no Tajik has ever ruled Afghanistan, all the presidents and the prime ministers have always been Pashtun.

The Afghans that I have met were from Kunar.
They can cuss Pashtuns as much as they want, they too have inferiority complexes like Pakistanis but they show it in a very childish way. I'm not some pro-Tajik Pashtun, I'm just saying the Tajiks that I know have not said anything against Pashtuns and when they do, it's always petty things that aren't even worth my acknowledgment.

Yeah, Afghans by nationality but Persian ancestrally. Pashtuns are Afghans, it's a Persian word for Pashtun. So, technically you're not Afghan.

I am not Afghan? I am "persian"? WTF!! that's news to me ... as far as i know ..."Ancestrally" speaking "persian" is not a race ...it's basically Iran. And Iran has been Iran and Afghanistan Afghanistan for the last 1000 years. So are you saying I am irani?

Not all Iranians are Persian. But yeah, it is widely known that Tajiks from Afghanistan are descendants of Persians (who come from modern day Eastern Iran).
