Kor is house. Astogna/Astoga is more commonly used as a 'place of residence'. For instance, if you were to ask me: Tase cherta astogna larey? My response would be: Mung pe Australia ke astogna laru/kawu. Whereas if you were asking about my exact house whereabouts, you would say something along the lines of: Tase cherta keney/wosegey? My point is not every living place is a house, and not every house is a living place - if that makes sense.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

Words in other Pukhto dialects that makes me lul:

                munga and doday (food) lolllll

No offense, I'm sure you guys have some too. Share them!

Words in other Pukhto dialects that I love:

                muz (we)
                wo (yes)
                jwand (life)
                phegla (girl)
                Pashtin (Waziri dialect)

I find the SH dilaects very romantic, but I love the KH dialects when pissed off.

There are many Pukhto dialects out there, they differ from region to region, tribe to tribe and village to village. You will find that within one tribe there are multiple dialects, and just across one village, the dialect changes remarkably. It is reported that generally every 3 miles language/dialect changes, this is in regions that has organized institutions and uniformed mediums. Imagine our Pukhtoon areas, where interaction and communication is limited not only with non-Pukhtoons but also other Pukhtoon regions/tribes etc. There can be so many unique dialects and words. We can literally have a word for everything!

then I general just say "za ____ osaegamm" rather than asthoga. Quite frankly I have never used it.

this is why I love Pashto. I came on here assuming since I speak the KH dialect, and Ghazni is right next to Paktia, there would be similiarities but nooope!

i noticed some similiarities between my dialect and neighbouring ones, but I havent come across a post where it was 100% exact

Ok we have a few different dialects here, id be interested in which of these is the purest form of pashto or infact is it pashto or pakhto! since modernization in the centuries and migrations its obvious some have become waterd down or adapted, such as some pashto in pakistan (or atleast spoken by a majority of people) has urdu words and some pashto in Afghanistan has alot of words from persia, id like to know which is the more "correct" dialect that the original pashtuns spoke....hmmm a hard one??
