  • Compliments in Pashto

How would you compliment the following in any situation you can come up with:

    - A close friend
    - Your elders
    - A person of the opposite gender
    - A complete stranger
    - DaZahroJaam

Or anyone else you can think of.
"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be".

"Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives".

Close friend : Ta par ma der graan ya, mazey zhagh rabandey kawa kurbana.
Elder:Sta da khabaro oh wakht sakha dera manana.
    Opposite gender: Manana khorey.
DaZahroJaam: ta bayad bita shayerey noshta kawal shoro kai, da pohano sakha ya, manana.

A popular way to show respect to an elder is by repeating ' Par dwaro storgo'.

    Example:

Someone: Levanaye Zalmaye, warsa da naanway sakha dodhai rawra.
You: Par dwaro stargo, weley ne, bas wos wlarama.
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

for elders i think mostly used is "pa dwarro stergo"

for example if they say "mor ta de salam wowaya" the answer would be "sha/kha pa dwarro stergo, wali na"

u can also say things like "tasi der mahraban yast" especially when they start showing love or giving advice.

for opposite gender - u can say "Dera shaista ye wallah, raza che derta yaw ice cream ra wakham, raza che chakar ta wallar so" LOL i am just kidding.

brother retardman, i would appreciate it if you stopped using me as material for your clown shows from now on. thank you kindly.

i don't compliment people. partly because i don't know how to. if i ever come across an elder for whom i need to express my gratitude i say something along the following line..."za taso ta deer ehteram laram.."

I am no bird, and no nest ensnares me.

non commercial would cost less if he was in charge himself which he plans on doing. right now it's n herat but soon it will be in qanadahar.
