    Some dialects do sound close to Pashto while others sound like Farsi, not sure which ones.

    It gets a little annoying when you think you know what they are saying but you don't. lol

          I can understand my Kurdi friend speaking Kurmanji Kurdi to some extent. It has maintained Kurdish Grammar. The one that sounds Parsi-like is Sorani Kurdi..

            Sorani Kurdish sounds much more like Pashto especially the southern type such as in Kandhar and around Quetta. Like southern Pashto it sounds a little nasal. For example in southern Pashto words ending in "e" like ke sound something like kiye when the nasal element is added. Also like southern Pashto it makes heavy use of zhe.

            Here is what I found on Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pashto

            Like Kurdish, but unlike most other Indo-Iranian languages, Pashto uses all three types of adpositions – prepositions, postpositions and circumpositions.

            Here are a couple of Sorani Kurdish dramas;

            By contrast this is a Kurmanji Kurdish song:

              Here is a link to the various Kurdish tribes on a map. One of the maps shows the location of the Kurdish tribe "Afghani"

                There's also an Iranian Tribe closely related to Kurdish people, 'Zazai'(Zazaki is the language). Sounds familliar right?

                  Yes those are considered northern Kurds. They live in Turkey. It is believed that they immigrated there from the Caspian area of N Iran

                    The style of singing sounds Turkish influenced in some ways. But overall this song and video is closest to Iranian in style.
