  • I have developed a Romanized Pashto keyboard!

    Hey people.

I have developed a Pashto keyboard for macOS(could also do it for windows). They had a Arab-Perso keyboard for Pashto too but the keys were not aligned to what I'm used to in the Roman Keyboards. So I went on and spent a couple of hours and developed a keyboard that fits the button on my keyboard, remind you that I'm talking about the Arab-Perso keyboard not the Roman Keyboard.

I did fixed the Arab-Perso script keyboard but didn't use it much, so I thought of making a Romanized Pashto keyboard. I spent the next two days studying about Romanized Pashto letters and came up with something that works pretty nicely.

Here is an example of Romanized Pashto.
Person 1: "Paǩair rāǧlay, zma nom Āsep Nūrzaī daī, āw stā?"
Person 2: "Manana Āsep Jāna, zma nom N̲iāmat Sākzaī daī."

I made this the day before yesterday and now it's pretty natural to me to type in Romanized Pashto.

Just to remind you, I made this keyboard using the already developed and researched information out there about Romanized Pashto and have not made anything up.
Sure, there are keys which are different in some of the sources but I have only added those who were essential to form the final keyboard and can still be modified.

Here some pictures of a Romanized Pashto keyboard keys.
I couldn't take the screenshots from my mac as I had to preset the alt/option key in order to get the Pashto keyboard keys.

This is the normal keyboard(had to compress image to 97kb so the quality is meh)

    This one is where you see the Pashto specific romanized letters such as ā, š, ḏ, ê, ṟ, ṯ, ž, ç, n̲, ǧ, & ǩ
You access them by holding the alt/option keyboard on mac.

This one is how you access they Capital equivalent by holding alt/option and Shift key.

This is the mac keyboard I have which I have shown the option and Shift key in order to access this keyboard.

If you want the downloadable file, just ask and if you don't know how to install it then I might make a video about it on windows and also on mac.
If I ever get free time I might make one for IOS and Andriod.

Conversion of previous Pashot text(example included).
Besides the keyboard, I have also developed a small web app to convert Arab-Perso script into Romanize Pashto. So, you just need to Pashto and hit the convert button. Visit this site for that. [URL="http://codepen.io/pashtun/full/bpLWod/"]Pashto -> Romanized
Though, it's not fully done and I'm not sure it can be improved upon as it's not easy to convert something from one script to another. This took me about 5 hours to do.

If you want to know why I made this then ask away.

That is great. But the symbols are complicated.

Great. And thanks. But as we know there is no standard method available to write pashto in roman script, it will be a clearly a mess. Besides writing pashto in arabic script with standard window keyboard is easy
