If I speak Persian, Hebrew and Arabic, how these languages can help with Pashto?

From scale of 0-10, how knowing these 3 languages can help me with learning Pashto? 10 - means can help a lot (Like Hindi-Urdu) and I can read and understand almost every conversation and article. 0 -It's gonna be like Chinese & English.

I think a 2 for Arabic and persian and 1 for Hebrew. Even though Pashto is classfied as an Iranian language it is eastern iranian language unlike persian which is western iranian language. Pashto has more letters in the alphabets than all these 3 languages. Pashto incorporates all the sounds found in these languages which makes it easier for pashtuns to speak almost any language due to number of letters (approaching 40).

Arabic has influenced Pashto to a certain extent and you will find many Arabic words in Pashto but knowing arabic words is not enough to form coherent sentences in pashto. similarly Pashto has alot of words in common with persian too which come from older iranian languages but again thats not enough to be mutually intelligible. Urdu and Hindi are basically the same languages, with urdu slightly more influenced by Arabic and persian while Hindi by Sanskrit, but in essence they are the same language and are mutually intelligible. This is not the case with pashto and persian or arabic. Totally different. Only thing they have in common is the Arabic alphabet which might help alittle.

1. Writing script is seperate. If you learn Arabic script, it's all easy.

2. Pashto has Arabic loanwords. Hebrew is not goanan help as every word in Hebrew is the same as Arabic with different pronounciation.....

3. Persian is related to Pashto. There are Persian loanwords but some Pashto words are same as Persian with different sound markings

Safed in persian is speen in Pashto, the "f" changes to "p" from Persian to Pashto, so that's what you can know...

If you foĺow [MENTION=17791]Happy Khan[/MENTION] posts, you may find that there is not a single word in common in the vocabularies of Pashto, ARabic and Persian. You can speak pure PAshto without using any other word of any language. Grammars are also poles apart. Pasto has no doubt borrowed some religious glossary from Arabic and literary diction from Persian but always there is a pure Pashto word as substitute. My score will be 0.1.
