Both mean justice. I need to know whether the ending is an o, u, w or the o (as is ball) sound. Thank you !
      1) depends on the meaning: nyaw (nyau) or nyew
      2) samaw (samau)

        1. نياو
        2.سماو

        Dear Ibrahim Khan

I am impressed the way you share pure Pashto words and your interest in this regard. Please let us join hands to make Pashto the official language in KP and Pashtun Balochistan and make Pashto presence felt more in Afghanistan.

1 is niyaw and No 2 is samaw
But note that in Pashto sometimes the vowel endings or vowel sounds generally change from region to region but in formal Pashto the words are pronounced as indicated above.

For Insaf there is a similar word in Hindi i.e "Nyae" which becomes "Anyae" for injustice

            Thank you,

Yes I am working to purify Pashto
In both hard(Peshawar) and soft(Kandahar) dialects the words are pronounced as Niyaw and Samaw. As these words do not have khin/shin and ge/je so there is no difference in the pronounciation . In central dialects like the ones used in Bannu , the vowel sound A may be a little shorter but it is a nuance.

If you are educating some one to use the pure Pashto words then the matter of pronunciation is not important. Just tell them that few days they may use both words like Insaf and samaw and then after some time once the new word is fully inculcated , then its pure use may be made more common and exclusive.

There are many other words especially in Pashto in Pakistan which need immediate attention like numbers(yaw , dwa , dre) , names of years like dwa zara swarlas instead of do hazar chawda, words like shukrya for manana, acha and theek for xa , sama etc. In Afghanistan Arabic and Persian words may be avoided and pure Pashto words may be used.

              like

              1) o (as in goal)
              2) o (as in ball/fall/more)
              3) u (as in fool/spoon)
              4) w (as in world/video/love)
Please note that Pashto not like French or English but like Spanish or Arabic is a phonetic language. We pronounce what we read. I do not know why you are so much confused in the pronunciation of these two words. These are pronounced as these are written. Niyaw and Samaw like w in world. It is not like English that we write bright but pronounce it as brait or put and but have different pronunciations.
