PESHAWAR - Quami Watan Party (QWP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chairman Sikander Hayat Sherpao has said that Pashtu would be implemented as official language in the province if his party was voted to power in the next general elections.
While speaking at a seminar in a connection with the International ‘Mother Language Day’ organized by the QWP Culture Wing here at press club on Thursday.
He said that language is a sign of long living nations in the world and Pashtu language has a rich history and culture spanning over thousands of years.
He strongly criticized the incumbent ANP-led government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for not passing a Regional Languages Authority Bill tabled in the provincial assembly for the last three years.
“The Bill was tabled with an aim to impart basic education to children in their respective mother languages across the province,” he said and expressed concern over delay in passing the bill.
He stressed the need for translating modern sciences and technical education in mother language and should be taught in regional language to compete with the Western world.
Sherpao also vowed to establish various academies across the province to preserve Pashtu language, besides folk artists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would be given due respect.
On this occasion, besides other participants party general secretary Jan Muhammad also spoken and highlighted the importance of mother language.

Since the founding of QWP(QOMI WATAN PARTY) by pashtun nationalists under the leadership of aftab khan sherpao many former ANP supporters join QWP.
Sikandar hayat khan sherpao is young,energatic,well educated pashtun leader.

They can have simple argument that they want the status for Pashto what Sindhi has in Sindh.

They can consult Afghan experts how to implement Pashto as official language as Pashto is enjoying official status in few provinces of Afghanistan.

The qumi watan party have only one MNA seat in the fedral parlaiment and that is aftab khan himself.
In the province they havae about 8 seats or may be 7 not sure.

I have spoken to aftab khan sherpao when he was visiting swabi.
He has deep interest in in this issue .
Begum meraj hamayun khan of janda village swabi is the president of pashtun cultural wing.She is well educated pakhtana with deep interests in pashtu and pashtun culture.She already started her work from her own village and now organising it on distt level.
Most of the pashtun scholers now joined qwp like salim raz etc.
One should go and see the nice building of khushal baba memorail library in akora khatak built by aftab khan.
He is a man talking less of what he is doing for pashtuns but he is on the right direction .
If you come to swabi ,the bacha khan medcal complex,judicail complex,the swabi-jahngira road,bridges and gas pipes all built by him during his ministry.

Yes Pashtuns are struggling for biological needs of food, shelter and clothes but they being a brave people should not let die their language. Once they have their language and culture alive, people will respect them and they will not beg for bread and butter.

aftab khan speak very good pashtu.Thats his mother tongue.He speaks ashnagharay pashtu.The good thing about him that he can read and write well in pashtu.Here the parachah gujar of dir distt blaming him cus his so called pashtun leaders run to punjab and licking chaudry,s boat.
