  • Feroza-Banu!

I thought I'd share this. The transliteration is not how I would go about it, but for these lessons, it will suffice. I am not posting it in another thread because while we do these lessons, we can refer to it easily. Hope it helps folks.
Omg I know you posted this a long time ago, but thank you soo much. This is very useful

This text comes in two parts today InshAllah. I had many PMs following Dars 12 telling me that it was difficult, so I've adjusted this and simplified it, I hope. Please note that whilst I always edit the text in the Dars, I have decided to keep the spelling of کي (in) as shown here rather than use کښي which is also in frequent use.

                • Turk Jan ... I'm working on this. I figure that this section needs some revival and since I've been very busy (more in another posting, InshAllah), I want to pass this one on.

I've had a number of messages with regards to renewed interest in learning Pashto reading etc. Anyone on the board willing to take on the role of teacher for the Dars section? I'm willing to support to help get this moving.

                      • Salaam Yasmeenah. I know it doesn't sound great, but having other commitments I simply ran out of physical time. My vision was to have something that was evolving and I opened up the role of 'teacher' to other members. After the first set of lessons, when people just just posted to the board, I decided to have people PM their responses to me. It created discussion and something really interactive and I was able to give individual feedback, picking up common points, which I brought back to the board. My Inbox was very full and I had lots of participating Members. I aimed for exposure to a full range of Pashto literature types and began to vary the texts so you will see some news articles, some playscript/drama, narrative, poetry etc. I figured different language/grammar points could be drawn out that way. That was the I viewed it. (Incidentally, I don't major in linguistics, but I know about curriculum design at the elementary level and the importance of short Q & A with lots of variety).

It's possible to revive this, it just requires the organised commitment of a few individuals and since Pashto often breaks from a standard, I always expected it to be organic and there to be more than one opinion anyway. By default that means more than one teacher - at the beginning especially, I think the forum would have allowed for that. It was certainly a forum strong point, in my opinion. Alas perhaps, a new generation of Pashtun youth meant that I didn't have anyone to step into the role of teacher - and quite honestly I didn't want it to depend solely on me driving this. Of course, I benefit too, by stepping into the 'learner' role just like anyone else. But, yes, the floor is open and I am happy to hear suggestions ...

                        • Tor Khan, I was thinking of a new online class for beginners, ie those who already know Pashto letters. I have some exercises, short texts and voice clips and I know grammar. I could post them on weekly basis or so. I only worder if there are those among members who would like to systematically learn. I am very curious what would be the effects after few months of learning, if it's effective or not.

                              Thank you for encouraging me.
I would like to wait one week more to see if they are others eager to learn.

In the meantime you could tell me if you have any experience with Pashto and what foreign languages you know.
