Well, he did not actually target Pashtuns psecifically.

He was a staunch Parchami. And for him to achieve his political objectives, he did everything.

He use to bribe local warlords and "commander fulaan and fulan" to stop fighting his troops and to fight another Jihadi group. He knew that most Jihadi groups relied on local commanders who were in some cases nothing more than a bunch of former robbers and looters who have chosen to pretend to be Mujahedeen. So he capitalized on this by instigating infighting among Mujahedeen.

He faught a major war against Maulavi Khalis group in Nangarhar. Many Ahmadzai tribesmen got killed as a result of his onslaught in Hisarak and Azra. Further down south in Logar, North Paktia & Khost he fired salvos of SCUDS, Katyusha's and other types of Russian weapons. As a result entire villages were wiped out. I know a man from Ahmed Khel are of Paktia. He saw with his own eyes how a SCUD landed on a village and killed all inhabitants. Including the cattle.

In Hisarak of Nangarhar, the Jabar Khel & Maruf Khel branches of Ahmadezai lost their crops, homes, buildings mosques and everything else due to heavy pounding by Katyushas.

Similar crimes were commited in Khogiani, Azra, Jyani Khel, Zurmat, Wazi Zadran, Nadir Shah Kot, Baak, Spera.

Sangar I heard very good things about Najibullah how he did not take orders from other countries and how he really cared for Afghan interests. He wanted a modernized Afghanistan.

he was not a puppet. A puppet is Babrak Karmal and Hamed Karzai.

Najib was more independent than them. But he was not much better than them .

Some things really look very irrelevant, for example he killed many pashtuns. Why he killed? why? because they were in the camps of opponents who were attacking governmental assets.
We know all that his fight was with mujahideen and it is today crystal clear who were mujahideen. What other option he could use? He invited them few times for dialogue but their will was in hands of others. From where they got weapons and training is not a secret.
As a whole he protected Afghanistan and wanted to have a peacful and developed Afghanistan, but it was in interest of many. To say that he tortured innocent pashtuns without any reason is so nonsense. He wanted to bring more and more people to him. But it was propagated against him so strongly that I believed also for long time about him that he is kaafir, however his sacrifices and sincerity will be remembered forever. He is safe in pages of hisotry and history speaks itself, and sangar or someone else cannot change it by saying dont believe people saying this or that.
Dr Najeeb was a great person and as in the last part of this video he pointed to the training camps and weapons coming from pakistan is valid till today. Pakistan interference is the key to destruction there.
