There does not exist any linguistic term like Kandahari Pashto. Other wise we will have to divide Pashto in many ways like Peshwari , jalal abadi, Kabuli, Paktyawal, Quettawal, mardanwal, swatwal, dirwal, bajawarhi, mohmanidi, waziri, khuberi, kohati, bannuwal, marwati, loralaywal, pashinwal, chamanwal, malakandwal, karachiwal, kunarhi, helmandi farahi, etc etc

The most famous categorization of of Pashto dialects bear the name Soft dialect(including the one spoken in Kandahar) and Hard dialect. Some Linguists use the terms Northern (hard) and southern(soft) dialects.

We may just talk of Pashto and may use our own dialect if we wish but may not create an artificial divisions of Pashto based on cities. Pashto is one, pashtuns are one and no dialect is superior to other and no one is sweeter than the other. All are equally good, correct, sweet and romantic.

    We
Pashto language is mainly divided into two dialects of Kandahari and Peshawri Pashto, southwest of Afghanistan, southern and central Pashtunkhwa of Pashtunistan are the regions of Kandahari dialect whereas Paktya,Kabul,Kunar,Nangarahar and North Western Pashtunkhwa is considered to be the region of Peshawri dialect.
Written Pashto however is standard and does not differ.Pashto literature and Curriculam is always written in Kandahari Pashto irrespective of its locality i.e Kabul,Peshawer,Kandahar etc.
For instance, Kandahari "Kezhi" can not be written "Keggi" in a formal book or statement.Same goes for all those words where difference just occurs in pronunciation yet writing remains standard.

        Faculta is not College.

Paculta/Faculta is driven from FACULTY which is not a Pashto word.
Pashto word for Paculta/Faculta/Faculty is POHANZAI.

Kandaharis never ever use Pohanazia. They use Paculta.
Shlmobay seems like u haven't been reading Kandahari newspapers, books written by Kandaharis and Kandahari school Curriculum coz all of them have called it Pohanzai.
You are teaching ppl street language of Kandahar not Kandahari Pashto dialect.

I'd appreciate it if you can be honest and admit that not a single Kandahari uses the word Pohanzai when talking about schools.

we can take a survey on this website. If you ask any kandahary how was pohanzai he will look at you stranhely.

kandaharis use pohantoon or paculta. Yes your word is riht but this thread is about kandahari dialect and your words are dead and not in effect.

how about you make a thread to revitalize Pashto? Cause like I said I am from the city of Kandahar, I have been to Kandahar. It's not in effect.
Seems like you are taking it hard on yourself.

Instead of asking me to prove its not Paculta, why don't you prove if it is ever used in written form somewhere in Kandahar.

I have a question though,is there any Paculta/Faculta in Kandahar province?
If not,how are we even arguing about something that doesn't even exist in Kandahar.
Once you answer then i will prove it to you how its Pohanzai not Paculta.

                    You both are right.
In colloquial Pashto, Faculta is used.. or as Ghilzai likes to emphasize, Paculta..
But the proper Pashto term is Pohanzay.. so we have to have priorities here, are we teaching them street or formal language?

If anything I think you are since you are hiding froma fact.

The fact is 95percent of Kandaharis use Paculta or Pohantoon.

So it's either you are not around Kandaharis enough to realize this or something.

I am open to learning. I admit Pohanzai is right. But if Mesbah ever tells a Kandahary how was ur Pohanzai the person will be scratching there head.

our ton of scholars obviously used the best pashto skills on earth but the inhabitants do not use that.

Mayana, do you agree with me that Paculta or Faculta is used more often as compared to what he claims? Which is more in effect. Ghilzai sahab and all Kandaharis jump in .

Millitpala, I appreciate your time so don't get it twisted.
First and last there is no specific institution by the name of Paculta in Kandahar. We have several primary and high schools along with two Universities.Kandahar University and Polytechnic Institute.

In each university we have various faculties/pacultay and each faculty offers a minor and major in its field.Faculty of science, engineering,Law and medical are a few of them.

Just to put it straight to you, I am from Kandahar and have lived all my life amongst Kandaharis till the day,its a few members on these forums trying to advocate for Kandahar, its traditions, norms etc and have hardly spent a year of their adult life in Kandahar.

We have Shia>Parsiban Kandaharis in 1st borough of Kandahar and they speak nothing but Farsi amongst themselves. If everything had to be left to inhabitants not the formal terminology, then i will be talking in Farsi now.But as a Pashtun from Kandahar its my duty not to let Kandahar be identified as a Parsi>Dari speaking province.Unfortunately we had that image amongst other Pashtun provinces due to a few naive Pashtuns's usage of typical Parsi terminology.
IT HAS TO STOP and i will not contribute to its continuation.

Yes Pohantoon is a genuine Pashto word.
