  • Seeking Boston-Area Pashto Speakers

    Hello Pashtuns,

I am seeking men and women in the Boston area who are native speakers of Pashto, for a Pashto language recording project. If you speak the Pakhto variety of Pashto, you are welcome. This project will be taking place later this spring. Speakers will need to come to Concord, Massachusetts, USA, about 8 times. The pay is $30 per hour. Public transportation is available. But first I am conducting auditions, to choose the best speakers. An audition is like a job interview for your voice. Auditions are here in Concord, last less than 1 hour, and are not paid. We will choose one woman and two men for the job.

Please contact Sally McInnis at sarah.mcinnis@simonandschuster.com

LOL. It's not spam. And I didn't disappear. It's been barely 14 hours since the post, and that was an over-night time for me. Yes, I really am looking for Pashto speakers who live in the Boston or Massachusetts area for this project. It's a short-term contract position. Once the project is over, it is over. There will be no sending of anyone anywhere. It is recording sessions in our sound studio in Concord, Mass. It is not about the war on terror. It is about making a product for Americans to learn to speak Pashto.

We make the Pimsleur Programs, a unique way for people to learn to speak foreign languages. Here is an example of our product. http://www.pimsleur.com.

Candidates should not have lived away from Afghanistan or Pakistan for more than around 8 years. Speakers will need to come to our studio in Concord (Mass.) about 8 times for recording sessions. The recording sessions last about 2.5 hours each. Depending on speakers' individual schedules, recording sessions will most likely be on weeknights. The sessions will be taking place later this spring. Pay is $30 / hr. The MBTA commuter rail goes to Concord from North Station, Porter, and Waltham.

But first things first -- I welcome all qualified candidates for auditions. Auditions are here in Concord, last less than one hour, and are not paid. Any number of people may audition. After auditions are complete, we will choose two men and one woman for the job. The audition is like a job interview for your voice where you simply read the Pashto script aloud and we record it for our judges. We choose the ones with the best voices.

      Auditions are going on now.

Serious inquiries only, please. And contact me directly, please, not on this forum.
