Learn Pashto with 'HeadStart' DVD

This DVD was created by Defense Language Institute in 2005. It was developed for US soldiers operating in Pashtun areas. The DVD includes, however, not only military commands but also many useful phrases and vocabulary which can be very important dealing with Pashtuns. Ideal for beginners since spoken by native Pashtuns.

I thanked that you placed these mini-dictionaries with some hesitation, because I do not support the purpose they have been witten.

Yea I dont support its purpose either. My main focus is the Pashto language, grammar and vocabulary.

For sure they weren't prepared by professionals. I mean there are some errors, certain sentences are too long ( potential commands), then others are in 2nd plural form or in 2nd singular form.Grammarical mish mash. Lexical content seems to be ok but only for those who have any idea about Pashto.

I often wonder about usefulness of such dictionaries for non pashto speakers or those having limited pashto knowlegde. Maybe they are able to read given phrases but I doubt if they can understand answers given by Pashtuns.

OK, I will do this in two weeks, when I pass all exams. I also checked the "Learning Pashto for Beginners" by Tegey. There are some grammar errors. Plus, conjugation of some verbs seems to be strange - maybe it's due to Tegey's dialect (he is from Khost). If you are interested, I can also write my remarks here or in other thread.
