    Pashto counting. How to count in Pashto?

    I'm sure this would assist many people who can't count in Pashto.

The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

      it is quite complex in the pashto script. what is the blue script there tor_khan?

        The blue, Faye, are the numerals in Pashto. Just another visual way of representing key information. (Yep, I'm a primary-school educationalist, in my away-from-the-computer life).

          it is so similar to english way of writing the numbers. don't know where the english way came from. i am a slow learner at languages but i always learned some of the numbers when i travelled and the basic greetings. the numbers i needed for buying and business, as i was selling portrait sketches.
          this is where i like to start though. thank you both.

            We say tsalor (as in tsenga ye) for four and
            yawisht etc for 21 etc. and
            Tsalwesht for 40 etc. and
            Desh instead of Jesh for 30.

              Hi Mayana,
              That's how we pronounce it as well. I just didn't want to confuse any potential learner. They would be spending minutes attempting to figure out how to pronounce 'ts'. For beginners, it's a babystep and I'm sure it gets the job done. If you have any tweaks in mind, feel free khor. I'm aware that you are talented at linguistics.
