Try these:

1. If you are using Win Vista or XP you can add a Pashto keyboarding to the Windows environment by going to your Control Panel, Language and Region options.
2. Download and Install a Pashto Phonetic Keyboard by following this link – it comes from Feroz Afridi’s Destar website - it adds the Pashto option to the bottom right of your screen and it - this one reconfigures your keyboard so that Alif is A, Bey is B, Tey is T etc.

4. Not always very accurate but another option is Pashto Word – basically it is a little tool that allows you to write in English e.g. Tor Khan and it converts it into Pashto تور خان

Anybody know if there is a keyboard layout for Mac OSX that is similar to the one for Windows? Like the one where the Roman keys are remapped the corresponding phonetic Pashto letters. If not I can try to put one together.

This did not work for me. It was not as "viola" and easy as you tried to make it out to be.
