  • O Worshipper! Where was your heart?

Once untainted, with naive aspirations, longing to break free
Only to savour the charms and glamour in a feral spree.
Its lens now murky, and a victorious magnetizer of profitless lust,
Unaware its sweetness is brief, but indisputably returns to dust.

O Worshipper! Where was your heart?

You were quick to thrust yourself into the race of acquiring wealth.
Little thought did you give to its sources, often made through stealth.
Your pleasures unabated, work and pride atop a satin sleeve,
Naivety was dripping delusions, to reach your kind, to so deceive.

O Worshipper! Where was your heart?

Exhausted were your days, depleted in amusement and fantasy.
Fortune, riches and bliss was the foundation of your odyssey.
Hypnotized by the momentary ecstasy of what you blindly achieved
You overlooked the eternal abode; one you seldom perceived.

O Worshipper! Where was your heart?

Selfishness and pride you thought were not your common practice,
To live your game of fame, you were convinced would suffice.
In times of need, you took favours from foreign glass-makers
Or took refuge with the mystics and colourful drapers.

O Worshipper! Where was your heart?

When He told you to create a place in the realm of love
You turned away, and didn’t once consider the abode above.
For a name in adversity, you bartered your selfhood
Among the western artisans, your butchered your brotherhood.

O Worshipper! Where was your heart?

When you witnessed the loss of lives, a state so painful and hurt
You were quick to forget, that you too, would return to dirt.
Hit by reality, by misery so deep, they began to scream,
You were deaf and blind, deluded in your own dream.

O Worshipper! Where was your heart?

Once untainted, who would have anticipated a state so weak,
To reach its destiny, handing out illusions, a state so bleak.
Ya Ibaadi, you stand alone, destitute, with no one to intercede
For your squander and foolishness, you desire a power to supersede.

O Worshipper! Where was your heart?

Mend your thinking. It is the heart that has faith, not the mind. If it were for the mind, then our logic and minds would have been saturated and we would, like many, start to have doubts. It is the heart that makes us believe in the unseen. Every worshipper has a heart, and every worshipper tastes the sweetness of Ibadah through his heart.

Perhaps you're better off reading a nursery rhyme.

I don't have worshippers. I am no saint.

The gist of the poem: O Worshipper, where was your heart? Deep down, within you, undoubtedly in your grasp. Like the target of a players board, it was pierced with darts. Ya Ibaadi, it is never too late.

IT'S NICE TO HOLD ON TO SOMETHING THAT HAS ACTUAL MERITS. FAITH SHOULD NOT BE SEEN AS A BLINDING FORCE THAT MAKES YOUR HEART BELIEVE IN SOMETHING THAT'S NOT THERE. THE HEART IS NOT AN EMPTY SPACE THAT YOU CAN FiLL UP WITH ANYTHING AND TAG IT AS YOU WISH. AT LEAST NOT EVERY ONE ELSE'S.

Just as a reminder, all the articles of faith are belief in the unseen. Belief in God, in His Angels, in His Messengers, in His Books (Quran is an exception), in Qadr and Yaum-ul-Qiyamah. And believing in these is where our actual faith is tested and the state of our hearts. The poem isn't intended to fill hearts with what is not there. It is to ponder on our situations and look down our collars and remind ourselves that we are human, nothing more, nothing less. If you're not happy with its intended message (which undoubtedly you have misunderstood), you're free to walk away. I am certain the target audience will appreciate it.

I AM SORRY, I HAD NO IDEA WE HAD AUDIENCE HERE..HERE I WAS, THINKING WE WERE DISCUSSING SOMETHING.
BY THE WAY, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A MUSLIM WHOSE FAITH IS BASED ON THE FACT THAT THERE ONCE WAS A PROPHET OF THAT THERE IS A BOOK...YOU HAVE GOT TO READ THE BOOK AND COME IN TO TERMS WITH WHAT IS WRITTEN IN IT BEFORE YOU GO AROUND CLAIMING TO BE A MUSLIM. THAT REQUIRES A FUNCTIONAL BRAIN, NOT A HEART.
WHEN YOU GO IN TO A CoMA, YOU ARE STILL A MUSLIM BUT WHEN YOUR HEART TRICKS YOU IN TO CHOOSING WRONG DOINGS INSTEAD OF RIGHT, YOU ARE NOT.

                    NICE POEM.

Our Imaan is completed by six principles and a distorted belief in any of them results in a distorted Aqeedah. Aqeedah lessons will do you some good; a suggestion you might want to consider before coming to such (above) conclusions.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!
