What books would you recommend?

I have been looking for a good book to read for a while now. Just finishing up The Hunger Games (judging by that you should know what type of book I'm looking for) so if there is anything you guys or gals would recommend then please do! I was contemplating Game of Thrones but I've heard some not-so-good stuff about it so I probably won't bother.

Recently read And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hossieni but wasn't too fond of the depressing stuff. I prefer light and more on the cheerful side of the world. If I want depressing I'll read the news.

Da ddera mudey pas! If you like dystopian stories how's about 1984 (George Orwell). Any easier read is Z for Zachariah (Robert C O'Brien) which I believe is currently being turned into a film. Or even World War Z (Max Brooks) - which is kind of like a post apocalyptic view of the world told in several 1st person narratives. Yes it has zombies but it's much more than that. Forget the film of the same name.

So the "Literature" section is where all the uber-sophisticated, avant garde, houte couture folks of Pashtun forums hang out eh to keep away from the likes of lesser folks and philistines like me eh?
