Im a bookworm. However, i enjoy depressing type of books:
    1. kite runner----khaled hosseini----i related to the main characters feelings, to be concise.
    2. Thousand splendid suns---same author as above---its a good book.
    3. Bookseller of kabul---it was intersting.
    4. A boy called IT---Dave pelzer---this was sad, but very good---theres sequels to it.
    5.Imams daughter----hannah shah----really good, but sad
    6. Afghanistan where only god comes to weep, samira and samir----siba shakib------the former made me cry, i thought it was a good book.

Actually its weird ive noticed a recurring theme, lol.

^Most of those, if not all, are fiction. =P

I can't think of many non-fiction books, the ones I read are Islamic, or even science realted. My youngest bro thinks LOTR was real, so he'd recommend that - (but he's only seen the film).

      Yeah.. nothing springs to mind..

            What topic?

I read almost only nonfiction books.. so here are some of my favorites:

            Metaphysics/Philosophy..

Because someone I love with allllll my heart gave it to me.. Very beautiful, I mean, come one, it's Rumi!

Al Ghazali - Very deep, very insightful philosophy, very metaphysical, very enlightening.. it'll change lives.

Pretty much anything by Khalil Gibran, this book in particular.. some of the best prose ever..

Anything by Jorge Luis Borges.. prose and metaphysics, very good writer =)

Gulestan and Bostan by Sadi - epic Persian prose, poems and short stories.. very sweet, very deep..

            Politics..

This book is a must-read. It gives amazing insight into the politics of terrorism, Islamophobia.. points out the similarities between the three Abrahimic religions.. the author is a German Catholic Politician and part of the right wing, who traveled to Afghanistan and Iraq several times during several wars and has some great knowledge about those topics.

A memoir by a Jewish law student who worked for the Israeli Embassy in NY.. VERY very funny, very surprising, very random.. had me LOLing right and left.

And pretty much all other books by this author..

I haven't read the last two.. but I've heard a LOT of good things about the books.. they're on top of my to-buy-list =)

Daa zma lewanay Zrra gorah, daa sta lewanee Mina..
Za ba da Sahra warnakam da Iran pa Golestan,
Dalta za yao & yakta yam, halta zar zma pa Shaan
            .

OoOohhh! I've tooo many to list here!

But the one I cannot get enough of that I recommend to the entire world is: Speaking in God's Name by Khaled Abou El-Fadl. Simply THE best non-fiction I've ever read.

For more suggestions, you may check out my Album titled "Important Books."

If I'd recommend a book on Ghizali, I'd recommend "The Incoherence of the Incoherence". I actually have a copy of "The Incoherence of the Philosophers" in which Ghizali unsuccessfully tries to take on the Greek philosophers. I was disappointed because his main rebuttals to everything consisted mostly of "here's what the Quran says and therefore I am correct". Ghizali was completely outdone by a much sharper Ibn Rushd.

I tried getting my hands on a copy of "The Israel Lobby" but it's not available here for some reason. I'd double recommend anything by Chomsky though.
"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be".

"Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives".
