As I have said before, Pashtuns accepting this book has to do with sentimental value. I would want them to accept it as I have aimed it at them.Originally posted by shadowgovernerso you admit this book is false and BS and is ment for guilable south asians?
Perhaps be more tolerant and accept that everyone does not think the same way and take interest in reading something they don't agree with, that too. I don't know whats to disagree. Its a novel and the reader can form any opinion he wants. I don't drill things into the readers head through the book. You will see some of the ideas represented by me don't even show up in the book. Whys that? Because its a fiction novel. It tells a story and barely has time to drill things into heads... heads that already believe they know everything.
I disagree with your statement. Some Non-Pashtuns care about the Pashtuns, have hung out with Pashtuns and noticed how they have suffered... so in a way they get attached... involved automatically.Originally posted by Old School Killiwal View Postanything about pashtuns from a non pashtun is invalid. same for any other nation. if a rwandan writer publishes a book about the indo-china war, it is invalid as he is not involved in anything even remotely related to it.
Pashtuns are fiercely independent but must not alienate the support and goodwill of people from the outside who care about them. If American forces are killing innocent civilians they should be condemned. But if an American woman raises money and builds a school for Pashtun girls she should not be treated the way you would like to treat foreigners... Pashtuns currently need all the help they can get to build a tolerant society.
The problems Pashtuns face have forced them to become intolerant and racist. Supporters of Imran Khan are Ranjit Singh thugs (even though he's Pashtun!), Punjabis are the enemy, Pakistan wants to break Afghanistan, Tajik are the enemies, Kandahari Pashtuns are not real Pashtuns, Hindkowaan's are animals, ISI is the enemy, Hazara are not Muslims because some of them are shia... This is how the thinking of the Pashtun has evolved due to constant strife and war. He is confused.
Plus I have neither stated I am a Pashtun nor have I stated I am not. So how do you know I am not a Pashtun? In any case I would like to be known as someone who is dedicated to the Pashtun cause. That is what should actually matter.
My book has nothing against Pashtuns and Muslims. In fact it is a very statement about the resilience of the Pashtun people to deal with any obstacle. Foreign invasion, Taliban fanaticism, Soviet force, nothing has managed to shake the Pashtun people who still strive for a better future for their race.Originally posted by shadowgoverneri think i will write a book against muslims and especially pashtuns, just imagine the fame and fortune
.
Divided they may be as your posts prove but they have the will to strive for the betterment of their society. I can only hope that I can convert you to my way of thinking... or at least make you understand that I feel nothing but love for the Pashtuns.
And let me clear a misconception. First time authors dream of fame and fortune. There is no guarantee they will get it and there is a great amount of uncertainty for the new author. Will his book be a success or not? Is he dependable? Lots of questions. The Publishers ultimately have all the power. In fact they are even the ones who decide when my book will be launched after I have submitted it.
Again a very big misconception. This is barely about money. Especially new authors find them crushed financially.Originally posted by Old School Killiwal View Postthis has become one of the easiest and quickest ways to get rich.
I have been paying from my pocket to launch my book. Not being a very rich person and still dependent on others this has been a Herculean task (accumulating the finances I mean).
There is still an year before I can even think of seeing a profit from this book. Scratch that, even then there's no guarantee. What if my book doesn't sell? I gain commission on sales (half of which goes to the Publisher actually) So lots of uncertainty involved with a new author.
So this is barely about money. Its about standing for my convictions and my love for the Pashtun race. So that I can explain though intolerant, yes the Pashtuns are also the victims. They have suffered grievously, support them and help them... a good message.
I hope you still do not believe I should be banned. If so we are getting somewhere. If not I just wasted my time on you... but on second-thought its good to clarify your position. If you disagree with me try to trust me.
And how about we make a deal? If my book is that successful (that it makes me rich) I will make a school in Pakhtunkhwa. (After I build one for the Baloch-sorry promised them first.

Another chapter of my book has been accomplished. The book will inevitably meet delays as there is still much to write and there are many stages after it has been written. The best way to stay updated is to follow me on twitter. That way you can find out about my views, as well as get news about my book.

I am not pro-Musharraf. But even if I was it shouldn't be a problem. HS,
From your posts, you know very little about pashtuns so that is why people think you are not pashtun, hence you would not be an authority to write a story about pashtuns. Its like a person that knows very little about science writing science fiction. It would be laughable.Last edited by khushal; 03-26-2012, 10:43 AM.

Okay friends. I have a number of questions concerning Waziristan for my book, particularly south waziristan. The people I have asked for help till now have not responded yet to my questions. I think I should post this as a separate topic to get more attention
1) Are Sararogha and Kaniguram also firmly under the control of militants? I guess they are but would you know when militants exactly came?
2) Which year exactly did the militants come to power in Ladha? When did Ladha start being controlled by Hakeemullah?
3) Is Ladha classified more as a town or as a village?
4) Can Girls below 10 years old go to fetch firewood or water from a stream?
5) Did rah e nijat manage to flush out militants from Ladha at all or do you believe it was eyewash. I mean the news outlets said many militants were killed. Do you think at least some of that was true?
6) I need details on the fall of Ladha fort. I also need information on how it looks and who it is controlled by. Is it still being controlled by Taliban after Rah E Nijat?
7) Distance between Ladha and Makeen? Ladha and Mingora? If you know how long a drive it is from the place to each of these towns.
That is your impression... which I do not begrudge you for. However I have been keeping an update on everything that goes on in the WOT and therefore can claim to have knowledge on the matter.Originally posted by khushal View PostHS,

Frankly I am beginning to like all the controversy surrounding the book. In a way I might have become frustrated with all the negative comments but I am not because if it is controversial it still sells.
Slackistan was banned, making it controversial... now everyone wants to watch it. Reservoir Dogs and United 93 were films that made it on the list of controversial and became world famous.
I just hope one or two people might have a positive view of the work I am trying to do for Pashtuns? No? Though I am surprised by the huge fanbase the Taliban and militancy has here despite the destruction it has caused.I am the author of Badal, an upcoming fiction novel on the War on Terror. I hope so. I am actually getting worried about it because promotion in Pakistan/Pakhtunkhwa is very necessary for my book to succeed. Ultimately the prime market segment for this book is the Pashtun and the Pakistani.Originally posted by Kurmewal View PostWill your book be available in major book stores in Pakistan?
I will surely take steps in this regard but the best way to buy the book in its initial stages will be to order it online. For my agreement with my publishers I have to sell 100 copies online first before it goes for mass distributionI am the author of Badal, an upcoming fiction novel on the War on Terror. And Karachi. Karachi has 2-3 Million Pashtuns too. Since I have found out that some of the people are either Taliban supporters or too backwards to support something good being done for their own people I have started aiming at the more liberal sections of society.Originally posted by Kurmewal View PostI suggest you find following amongst the elite of Peshawar.
I needed some motivation. Your interest in the book has given me some motivation.
The book will not fail. Pakistani Pashtuns will buy it. Liberal Afghans will buy it. Then there are the westerners. They will buy it too.Originally posted by khushal View Postthe guy is an idiot, he does not know anything about pashtuns. the book will fail.
the elite of peshawar are more interested in a wine book than something like this.
Why are you judging the elite of Peshawar. What crime have they done? You can't accept Pashtuns on our side and then you guys talk about forming "Pashtunistan." When you can't even accept us how you guys plan to build great "Pashtunistan" where all Pashtuns contentedly graze in green pastures...I am the author of Badal, an upcoming fiction novel on the War on Terror. karachi pashtuns are mostly poor workers from other places, obviously excluding the richer familes. Statistics indicate that about 20-30% of the Pashtuns in Karachi are middle class or upper class. So out of 3 Million I still have 500,000-1 Million Karachite Pashtuns I can sell this too. Of course only a joker would even think of selling it to half this population as surely not all would be interested in English literature of this sort.Originally posted by Kurmewal View Postkarachi pashtuns are mostly poor workers from other places, obviously excluding the richer familes. I am personally motivated to sell this book to Pashtuns. It will please me if the Pashtun buys it. If some are ignorant and backward (not realizing its for them and about their noble struggle against militancy and how they have stood up to every obstacle) and don't buy it I won't mind but I don't want this book to be just for the west or rich Islamabadi, Lahori, & Karachi people. I want to market it to them too. Of course I need to make a profit but the book equally needs to be marketed to the Pashtun.
For my personal satisfaction I want the Pashtun to buy my book. It will please me as in a way this is a gift for the Pashtun.I am the author of Badal, an upcoming fiction novel on the War on Terror. For more information about me visit www.havisultan.com
