نه به مونږه در په در وی
نه به ژوند لره خطر وی
چې پښتون عقل پښتون وی
دغه خاوره به سره زر وی
نه به وران زمونږ ګدر وی
نه ټوټې به د زړه ور وی
چې د جنګ سره په جنګ وی
د نفرت کډي په سر وی
نه د اوښکو به لښکر وی
نه به سوې مو ځګر وی
نه د پوهې به کمي وی
چې د علم نه خبر وی
نه پوهنځۍ به مو کنډر وی
نه د مني مات وزر وی
هر بچې د پښتونخواه مو
پوه په پوها لکه لمر وی
نه په وينو به خېبر وی
نه به تت زمونږ نظر وی
چې بېلتون څه دښمني وی
د خپل زهن مو رهبر وی
نه به لر وی او نه بر وی
نه زخمي به پښاور وی
د آمو نه تر اټکه
چې راغونډ په یو ټغر وی
نه به لرې له تنور وی
نه به داسې مسافر وی
نسيم ستونه جوړ وطن وی
شپه ورځ به مو اختر وی
Rough translation:
Neither would we have been so scattered about,
nor would our lives have been in such peril,
if only the Pashtuns had wisdom,
this land would have been prosperous indeed!
Neither would our river-crossings be destroyed,
nor would our hearts have been broken.
Had we been at war with war,
hatred would have abandoned our abode!
Neither would there have been steams of tears,
Nor would our hearts have been burnt,
No lack of understand would there be,
If only we had the knowledge to see!
Neither would our schools be in ruin,
nor would our wings of freedom be clipped.
Everyone child of our Pashtun homeland
would radiate with knowledge like the sun!
Neither would Khyber be drenched with blood,
nor would our judgement be sullied.
If only we despised this division (of our homeland)
guided by our insight!
Neither would have been the question of upper or lower (Afghanistan)
Nor would Peshawar have been agonized.
If from the Amu until Attock river,
United on one platform we stood!
Neither would there be these distances and this oppression,
nor would we be dispersed thus.
If we had our country rebuilt
Joyous would our days and night be lit.
