  • "Pashtun womans feet"

I write this poem while i was in Waziristan watching IDPs.

Dear Pashtun woman, why do they beat you so much, tears flow down your cheek
rusty hands and solid feet, your softness has vanished
hard work, raising so many children, yet your paradise has banished
You have become a number as a Internally displaced person, how does it feel
I feel the pain, the tears turn cold, as your body can not handle this punishment
the world never hears your screems nor hear the tear drops that hit the ground
weight loss, pound by pound, life has become punishment for you
who will listen to the cries of a Pashtun mother, who will listen to what you been thru,
as our bodies may differ in size and shape, however my heart feels your pain,
beaten till blue, Pakistan has shown no respect to you,

concerns of your childs health has driven to struggle more
tird and home sick of this ungrateful war
why do you cry Pashtun women, your memeories have taken over you
once a peaceful land, to carry the water from the river, felt like a 5 star holiday
the clean air of Waziristan and Swat has been replaced with pollution and heart ache
your home has been destroyed, the home you intend to make
is very far from acheiving, I feel the pain of your suffering, who will listen to you my Pashtun woman,

    I will Listen to you.

With Maseed wrora's permission I made a few small changes.

    "Dear Pashtun Woman"

Dear Pashtun woman, why do those tears flow down your face

you don't belong here if this filthy, wretched place
Calloused hands and blistered feet, your softness has vanished
you were happy, then from your land, you were forcefully banished
You have now become a number, an internally displaced person, how does it feel?
It all seems like a nightmare but sadly it's real
I feel your pain, your tears turn cold, as your body can not handle this abuse
desperately you want to go home but you know your crying is of no use
The world never hears about you or sees your teardrops hitting the ground
helplessly you watch as your family wastes away pound by pound
Life has now become a punishment for you
Who will listen to the cries of a Pashtun mother, who will listen to what you been through?
Though our bodies may differ in size and shape, my heart feels your pain
Pashtun woman I promise I will not let all your suffering be in vain
I am angry at how Pakistan has shown no respect to you
leaving you like this, beaten black and blue
Why do you cry Pashtun woman, have the memories over taken you
of your once peaceful land and the life you once knew
The clean air of Waziristan and Swat has been replaced with pollution and heartache
your home has been destroyed and you don't know how much more you can take
Who will listen to you my dear Pashtun woman
I feel the pain of your suffering, you are no longer alone
I will listen, you are one of my own

Very sensitively written. Maseed, your creative side, strikes again!

        Thanks for the edits Lewanai.
