Lion Of Kandahar lyrics by Mike Batt

Avenging angels or devils in disguise,
    To each the same applies,
All strangers are Russian spies to the Lion of Kandahar.
All promises and words of love are lies,
    There is no compromise,
Seen through the eyes of the Lion of Kandahar.

    (Instrumental section)

    Resist, delay, deny;
They will not break you now, though still they try.
    One day they may understand,
This is the way God planned it.

Avenging angels or devils in disguise,
    To each the same applies,
All strangers are Russian spies to the Lion of Kandahar.
All promises and words of love are lies,
    There is no compromise,
Seen through the eyes of the Lion of Kandahar.

Old man, three times my age,
But still you cry like me with tears of rage.
The loving heart learns to hate,
    No words can compensate now.

Avenging angels or devils in disguise,
    To each the same applies,
All strangers are Russian spies to the Lion of Kandahar.
All promises and words of love are lies,
    There is no compromise,
Seen through the eyes of the Lion of Kandahar.

    (Guitar solo)

Avenging angels or devils in disguise,
    To each the same applies,
All strangers are Russian spies to the Lion of Kandahar.
All promises and words of love are lies,
    There is no compromise,
Seen through the eyes of the Lion of Kandahar.

This reminds me of a ballad someone wrote for Imam Shamyl which I was thinking to post anyway.

Who is the Lion of Qandahar??
Who is the author to know about all this?
    Just curious.

Every child is a lion of some sort, not just someone from Kandahar.

        Thanks for sharing!
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

        -Ferishta, 1560–1620

It is not about Kandahar, specifically. it is a song made by a man who admired the Afghans strength. I think he admired specifically a man from Kandahar- someone he regards - obvious.

All Afghans are lions from Paktia to Helmand.

So you are only including 6 provinces out of 34?

I mean all the way from KP to Helmand, from one end of Afghanistan to the other. You want me to list every province? does that make sense for you? From the Afridis who annihilated the British at the Khyber Pass to the Ghiljay who massacred the British in the 1800s. All Afghans
