    What People Are Saying

    Greg Mortenson

    - Author of Three Cups of Tea

Kamila Sidiqi’s unforgettable story shows just how far we are willing to go for those we love, and proves once again the power of girls to remake our world. This is one of the most inspiring books I have ever read.

        Quite the opposite :

These various shady characters MUST be examined, and carefully.

Few here even recognized the name of Greg Mortenson, but they should have.

He was in Pakistan's Northern Areas [now Gilgit-Baltistan] for years, then branched into Afghanistan for his SUPPOSED works of charity.

In fact he never talked about children needing anything to do with Islam.
        His schools had no classes in Islam that I know about ;

his project was not just fraudulent and seemed to be set up to glorify
Greg Mortenson - but it was INTRUSIVE.

All that angle was carefully hidden by him from Average America who
would cringe at the word Islam but beam away at the words
        "Secular Education".

But WHO said little Afghans and little Balti children need Secular Education?
He did, and Average America thinks this same way.

Right there, there was insensitivity to the religious culture of the people he is supposedly benefiting.

But let's look closer too: had he spoken to vast audiences telling them
he wanted to provide general education WITHIN an Islamic context, so that it
was congruent with the local ways of belief,
he would have been yelled at and tossed tomatoes at !
        He knew it well.
He knew he wouldn't be given a dollar if that were his goal.

So he set up his educational program the same way liberals/leftists/atheists etc would do.

I am guessing here based on the 2 books about his endeavor.
I watched carefully for evidence of at minimum, a polite attitude about the
        religion of his target people.
I saw almost no reference whatsoever.

So, maybe those fathers who weren't thrilled with sending their daughters to HIS educational facility had some intuition about the inappropriateness of the
        study program and liberal environment...
