The Pekhawar Adabi Jirga and Pekhawar magazine Qatar/Peshawar jointly made hectic efforts for the restoration of Pukhto Academy and had moved Peshawar High Court in this regard.

Congratulations, Feroz, I know you worked very much to bring about this happy conclusion of that big controversy.

Some people were muttering against Vice Chancellor Azmat Hayat Khan.
But I knew he is a sensible person from earlier days when he was an analyst at the Area Studies Centre [Central Asia].

I'm really glad he came through here with a superb decision.

It takes courage to reverse a decision.

We should applaud both Azmat and Feroz for turning a bad situation into a victory for all !

For, profit came out of loss by the reinstatement of the qualified Professor Shaheen - and with apparently better funding too.

                    Feroz Afridi:
Congratulation. It is a good news. Your sincere efforts are worth appreciation for its restoration. If I get the list of its publications, I will try that Toronto Public Library, which has 100 branches, import books from the Academy and maintain pushto sections in most of its branches.

You can see the magnitude of this Library by visiting its web site by clicking: Home : Toronto Public Library

Salma Shaheen reappointed as director Pashto Academy

Salma Shaheen reappointed as director Pashto AcademySalma Shaheen reappointed as director Pashto Academy Nisar MahmoodSaturday, March 26, 2011 PESHAWAR: Prof Salma Shaheen has been reappointed as director of the Pashto Academy at the Centre of Pashto Language and Literature (CPLL), University of Peshawar, after the bifurcation of the centre into Pashto Department and Pashto Academy.A notification issued on Friday said that the CPLL was bifurcated into the Pashto Department and Pashto Academy, which was established after the merger of the Pashto Academy and Department on August 17, 2009. Salma Shaheen, who had been working as director of the academy for five years before its merger into the CPLL, was reappointed its director. The Pashto Academy was established for the purpose of publication and research on Pashto language and literature. However, in 2009 the academy and Pashto Department were merged into a new entity under the name of Centre for Pashto Language and Literature in 2009. Dr Rajwali Shah Khattak was appointed its director.Hailing from Mardan district, Salma Shaheen has authored 18 books. She has been serving the Pashto Academy for the last 32 years. Being a PhD scholar, she is the recipient of the prestigious civil award Tamgha-e-Imtiaz. Talking to The News, Salma Shaheen said during her tenure as director the academy brought out more than 75 publications including 40 projects completed with the help of Lok Versa. She said a cultural museum was set up at the academy with the help of the US Consulate at a cost of Rs25 million where 1,800 manuscripts were preserved and showcased. Dedicated to the cause of Pashto language and literature, Salma Shaheen said it was her desire to establish a cultural encyclopaedia at the centre. About the restoration of the academy as a separate body, she said Vice-Chancellor Dr Azmat Hayat realised its importance and it was his commitment to the cause of promoting Pashto language and literature to provide an opportunity to the students to conduct research. She said the academy would be made a prestigious institute of research for the promotion of Pashto language and literature.

                              Mubarak dey sa Peroza.
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!
