    Hi,

Can someone please let me know what is meaning of the following poem and who is the poet?

    Transliteration:

"Pa khyaal bya arrawee cherta nadia starge,
Che betegha yee halaal Pari ashiqan krral."

The highlighted words, I'm not sure about their meanings. I think the "nadia" should be "nadeeda," which in this context can mean "unaccustomed" or not used to something.

Not at all sure about the other word ("betegha"?).

But overall, it's a love verse: The beloved has a lot of lovers.
Not sure who wrote it, though.

Someone else here might be able to help ...

Thank you for putting time on my request.

That portion was on my noteboook for a long long time. I searched the web for it in vain and the obsession to find the meaning matured overtime so I decided to post it somewhere like Yahoo answers or a relevant forum.

              Thanks.

The poem basically describes the beauty and effect of the eyes of the beloved of the poet. The poem may be taken in a metaphorical way as its literal translation may not be well understood.

Eyes of the sweet heart is a very important element in Pashto poetry which can be found in almost all generes (as poets cant see Pashtun women but only their eyes are visible hahaaa) and this poem beautifully describes the beauty , attraction, effect and force of the eyes of a Pashtun sweet heart. The metaphors, similies, personification and other figures of sppech used are superb. It compares the eyes to a knife in its force, to the Atlantic ocean in its width, its beauty more than pearls and diamonds and has fantastically described the movements of the eyes, the white and black colours and its force of enlightening till the horizons.

Indeed a beautiful classic Pashto poem and I wish to know about the poet Ezatullah Akbari and his poems.
