  • Uzbeki Pulau

I've seen it mentioned in a couple of threads but I've never heard of it or seen it before.

    What is it?

    Does anyone have a picture?

Most importantly - how do you make it?

    Thank you!!

    asalam alaikum.

uzbaki palaw is rice and meat cooked together. it is more like "dam pokht"

have u heard the term dam pokht?

    I don't have a picture of it

it is made with lamb but u can use beef too... authentically they use lamb. as the name refers this palaw is originated by uzbak people. it is popular dish amongs afghans because afghanistan has uzbaks as part of its population as well.

actually many afghan food are inspired by uzbak cooking.

onion is fried to dark brown
pieces of meat is added to it and fried till to take away the raw meat smell.
then if u wish u can add tomatoes... some don't use tomatoes
add turmeric powder and keep frying it.
add water as needed and cook the meat until its completely done
u can add carrots now (the way carrots are added in Qabuli)
now add water and add the rice
let the rice and meat cook together until the water is evaporated
    put it on "dam"

    serve it warm
