  • Do you eat only Halal meat?(members in non-Muslim countries)

Talking to a relative who lives on the States, he said that he buys halal meat for home but eats even the non-Halal when out at a restaurant etc.

He said there are some who are not that observant in other aspects of religion but very strict in this issue and do not touch non-Halal meat at all.

    What do you guys do?

In America there are many zindeeqs who claim haram meat is okay to eat. Only fassiqs in Europe do that. Normal Muslims never eat haram meat.

There is one problem though. Most Turks and other groups of revisionists in Europe believe that if you electrocute an animal to please kafirs and then slaughter it is somehow same as halal. That's why when you buy meat here in Europe you must make sure it's from a proper Muslim slaughterhouse.

You told us once that you were an anarchist not long time ago then you were reborn in Islam, alhamdulillah. What about those zindeeqs? They might be going through their jahilia but become Muslims in a matter few years and follow the same process that you did. SO don't be so harsh on them.

You are too quick to judge, bro.

I was a kaafir. Not a zindeeq. Learn the difference. I didn't believe in Islam and I didn't practice it. I didn't claim to be Muslim and do exactly the opposite.

Zanaadiqah are people who deliberately distort the teachings of Islam. For instance this one zindeeq mullah from America, Arshad Irshad, says that it's okay to it at Mickey D's. He claims America is a country of ahl Kitaab. Meaning people of the book, Jews and Christians. And therefore their meat is halal for us to eat. That's deliberate distortion. Because permissibility of eating meat slaughtered by Jews and Christians means slaughtering in the name of god performed by Jews and Christians. Absolute majority of non-Muslim slaughterhouses in North America and Europe don't slaughter in the name of god. These slaughterhouses aren't Jewish or Christian. They're secular. That's why you can't apply Islamic ruling on them.

You can go and buy meat from a Jewish butcher if there is no halal butcher. Or even better, avoid eating meat. It's not healthy anyways. But you can't distort religion just because you love to have a Big Mac. That's zandaqa.

Some Muslims believe that eating meat is Fardh and waajib in Islam. They can't live without eating meat.

You can have a perfectly healthy and natural life as a Muslim without eating chicken, lamb, beef or fish. It's possible. I've tried it. If I can resist the temptations I can avoid eating it for an extensive amount of time.

In near future most of these European fascist nations will ban halal meat. It is already happening here in Belgium and the Netherlands.

We have to be prepared and we have to adjust our diets. Most of the meat we buy isn't healthy anyways. Plus those poor chickens are treated badly. That's unethical and we shouldn't label it as halal. Because keeping chickens in those conditions is against Islam.

                .
Why would you want to be able to , or actually stop eating fish? Its not like it has to be slaughtered in a certain manner.

Because most of the fishing today harms the ecology and destroys the natural balance of fish population. The fish might not be slaughtered in a particular way but overfishing is harmful for the fish and the environment and as a Muslim I don't believe it is ethical to destroy our environment just to stuff our belly with certain types of food.

                  We always have alternatives.

I think that is a very personal question to ask a person. What others eat or don't is none of anyone's business unless a person who does keep halal is expected to eat a meal at someone else's home.
I see. Seems that you guys take the most cautious route , as Shamlawar pointed out that locally slaughtered products are safer as there is certainty that they are fine.

Secondly ,I think that most questions that would have been personal in real life are not so here on online forums because:
A - We personally don't know other members here so judging them is not really an option and neither does it impact them as such.
B- Any member here is at complete liberty to answer or not answer the question.

I know what a zendeeq is brother. I didn't calle you that, i said that you were not a Muslim not many years ago but then you turned to Islam and became a "better person".

My point was that you are judging people too quick and too harsh.

First time you hear about overfishing of ethical constraints on eating?

                            Didn't think about this before.

I've been vegetarian off and on in my life. Most recent was a while ago, around 2011. I was vegie for almost a year.

It's different in North America, because the quality of meat is disgusting, and the animals are treated poorly. For me, reason #1 was quality of meat i.e. hormones, antibiotics, etc. Inhumane treatment was reason #2, but also a very big factor.

I eat it because my size is big, and I just can't eat the quantity of vegetables to make me full. It also tastes good (yes, I know, bad reason).

Overfishing is a problem, but chances are very good that most of the fish you eat in North America are from fish farms to begin with.

Mad cow disease started because they fed cows scrap parts of other dead cows. Not sure if that's relevant to this discussion, but figured I'd throw that in there.
