I am from the Peshawar valley and my mom and others in my family occasionally make kachalan. They taste similar to aloogan(potatoes) but have a less firm texture. Don't know the recipe though.
I didn't know they were a uniquely Peshawar valley thing.Originally posted by Kaushika
majority of Hilly Rajputs are the product of these cross breeding and want to disassociate with their past. rajputs with rajwadi surnames consider themeselves superior but those native kings who look darker gets mocked as "gola" (mix breed, son of rakhile) so they actually invite light skinned rajputs and kshatriya tribes from Jammu region such as jamwals to sleep with their women so that their wives can give birth to pure white looking Native Child.

Just put maalga, Kattai (i dont know the english word for it, in urdu it is called "Amchoor") and Sur mrach over it....then squeeze lot of lemon over it......shake it.......your savory kachaloo is prepared...In the picture the kaka has put lot of sur mrach over it which ruins the taste........kattai/aamchoor should be more than sur mrach. the colour of the dish should not be reddishOriginally posted by Shapur View PostThats not what I was looking for. In English amchoor is either simply called "amchoor" or "mango powder."Originally posted by Samandri View PostYea we know the difference.
