    Gujarati Dal ( Gujarati Recipe)

With a characteristic sweet and sour taste, this traditional dal recipe is quite reflective of gujarati culture and uses the typical ingredients and spices. While this is an everyday dal, it takes on a festive hue when ingredients like peanuts and yam are added. For such grand occasions, the dal is boiled over and over again to get the best flavour. Remember that the ideal balance of sweet and sour levels required for the success of this recipe is an art that can be perfected with practice.

    Dal Fry Recipe (Punjabi dal)

Dal Fry is a spicy punjabi dish made from mixed dals like toor, chana, moong, masoor dal or just with chana and toor dal. This authentic Punjabi daal fry recipe follows the former approach and uses assortment of protein rich dals cooked in pressure cooker and mixed with Indian curry spices sautéed in pure ghee. The whole cooked dal grains in dal fry prepared with this recipe gives it a delicious texture while ghee sautéed curry spices provides rich aroma and spicy taste. Serve it with jeera rice and papad in lunch or dinner.

      Dal Makhani

Dal makhani or maa di dal, as it is popularly known in the punjab, with its smooth velvety texture and lovely flavour is a delicacy that is very much a dish of the punjab. Every punjabi restaurant, roadside eating place and food stall vendor makes the claim that this is a delicacy that they alone can make to perfection. This my own tested recipe dare i claim it as the best?
dal makhani is traditionally cooked on a low flame overnight and allowed to thicken. Using a pressure cooker helps cook the dal in a jiffy. Serve hot with naans.

        Sambhar(south indian dal)

The aromatic flavours of this traditional South Indian dish are truly irresistible. The speciality of this sambhar is that it is made with minimal oil and loads of vegetables which enhance its nutritive value. When served hot with Nutritious Stuffed Idlis, it makes a meal that is very hard to resist. Alternatively, relish this sambhar with steamed rice to make a wholesome meal.

                NO.

Haleem is made of wheat, barley, meat (usually beef or mutton, but sometimes chicken or minced meat), lentils and spices. This dish is slow cooked for seven to eight hours, which results in a paste-like consistency, blending the flavors of spices, meat, barley and wheat.
