People call her cooking style "Shahi." In fact, everyone of her sisters and relatives can cook like this. The Aash I made myself.

Thanks for the kind words. My mother and her sisters and cousins spend more time sharing their recipes with their daughters. At least this way, they are preserving their heritage. Maybe one day one of them will consider open a restaurant.

                              Wow!!!!!!

Mashallah your mother is a great cook. The way she put in the time to present her dishes speaks infinitely about her.

All the pics you posted look great. Afghan food looks similar to Mexican food. The way the party dishes were put together. Looks absolutely delicious. I will admit that although I have been to Afghan places in Jackson Heights, I've only ever had the traditional cuisines off the menu. Kebab and naan type thing.

But I have never actually had Afghan cuisine.

I hope one day that I can get to eat Afghan food. The texture and variety looks totally different from Pakistani food.

I think they have way more in common than they have different. Afghan Food , like their geographical position shares similarities with all neighboring cuisine. You can find influences from all parts of Asia, but primarily the Southwest, Central Asia, and India/Pakistan. I think India/Pakistan cooking (including Kashmir) was greatly influenced by Moghuli, or Central Asian style.
