  • Paenda!!!

Paenda is a special dish of the Marwat tribe. It's also eaten in Bannu and parts of Waziristan.

It's basically chicken with a lot of bor (curry/stock?) mixed in with home-made bread (marraii/doddaii) and eaten with mint chutni and onions. The whole concept of a paenda (gathering) is that a lot of people are sitting down and eating together.

"Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives".

It's a local take on icecream soda. My brother even makes us have Miranda with our food. I spared the rod and now he is unfortunately spoiled.

I have asked from many swatis, they dont know about penda. Infact they identify it as dish of lakki marwat.
                        Penda is dish.
Sobat is gathering in which friends prepare food by themselves and each person is given task...sobat is also unique to marwats though the word may be used by others.
Following are famous marwat food and dishes which are unique to us.
                        1-penda
                        2-gudar gharra
                        3-dodi halwa
                        4-chamrito
                        5-watanay
                        6-nghan
                        etc
