  • Calling all members of the Pashtun Forums. Every one of you, get in here.

The Amir has humbly invited all the esteemed members of the Pashtun Forum community for this Loya Jirga on the grounds of the Pashtun Forums Culinary Institute.

I have been perplexed for the last 15 years about something thats Food related. I hope one of you can help me with this.

Many moons ago, when I was a Baby Gangsta, I visited Afghanistan. Now as many of you may know, Im a Tribal Nigga. Straight Keliwall.

When I stayed in my mothers village that summer, I got to eat Afghan food, needless to say. I had rice, sherwa, etc etc

There was one particular dish, that I ate, which was my favourite dish of all. But no one seems to know about this dish.

It was, in essence a sherwa. It was bread, soaked in broth. But unlike Sherwa, which was meaty broth with potatoes etc, and unlike Qorat, which was bitter-ish and made from Qorat, this particular dish was sweet and made from Milk.

We called it Sheday (Milk). But it was a Sherwa like dish. It was sweet and Im assuming had Sugar in it.

I need to know if any of you know more about this dish. My mother knows but refuses to make it, claims it cant be done here. I think shes just being lazy.

    Assistance please.

PS Any peghla on this forum who is well versed in the art of the Sheday, will be bethroned to me immediately.

This meal was consumed passionately by hand by some of the most bloodthirsty tribesmen this side of the Suleiman Koh. It definitely wasnt a pregnant womans dish.

        Amir I gotch u, it's called sheerRoghan.

First u boil the milk mixed it with sugar, crumble the warm dodai in it and then put yellow oil (zyer ghwar) on top of it.

The thing that make it even more delicious is their hands dirt mixed with zyer ghwar. Lol

O'faithful hearken thy vezir, for he promises them another Gandamak and for the ancestors of Hari Nalwa a similar fate has been sealed. We shall shake the foundations of their inner sanctums, written in gold and immortal will remain this endeavor of Afghans.

This sounds a bit like lettey too. Some people, instead of dodai, use flour. The flour is added to boiling water/milk, with brown sugar or preferably gurha. It boils until it is cooked. Zerh ghwarh or butter is boiled on the side with warm milk and extra gurha. It is served together in a large platter or individually.

                  Am I totally off?

SheerRoghan is Dari by the way.

^ I thought lettey had some sort of meat (chicken?) and veggies (sabzi?) in it.
