Apparently there is a rice recipe used a lot in Swat for green rice? Does anyone have a clue what the recipe is? Anyone here from Swat who can find out?

Not from Swat, but are you asking about Zamarot (emerald) palau ... ? It's made with chicken and the colour comes from spinach ... ?

I haven't a clue what it's called but yes spinach gives it the green colour. I've only just heard about it, itching to try it out but can't seem to find a recipe.

Is this what you're referring to, with the chicken hidden underneath of course?

That's just a google image from, I think, an Indian website who also wanted to try making the dish. I'd try an Afghan/Swat recipe instead. I've never cooked it myself and as a family we only make it on very rare occasions. I'll see if I can get one for you.

there are two types of green rice. one is sabzi chalao and one maash palao.
sabzi chalao is made with spinach and mash palao with lime beans.

I am no bird, and no nest ensnares me.

non commercial would cost less if he was in charge himself which he plans on doing. right now it's n herat but soon it will be in qanadahar.

There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

Sabzi chalau is chalau served with sabzi on the side, no? And from what I have seen, maash palau is either white or a rich yellow. Our green rice would be zamarot palau, made green with sabeh/sabzi inside it, usually with chicken.

that photo is inspiring. i will have to try green rice. spinach is $4 for 3 leaves over here, mahzala, but it will have to be one of my 'luxury items'.

Most, if not all, Afghan rice dishes are difficult to make with many tedious processes, and from what I've been told, having cooked a few of the hard ones myself, this is quite tricky. Not difficult as such to prepare, but making sure the grain looks right when it's mixed with the liquid spinach is something you have to get right, otherwise the rice gets 'clotted', if I may say, into balls and that is not what we want to achieve.
