^ lol Dukemine it depends on where you live because Almaghrib usually recruits sheikhs from those specific areas .. so its bound to have a varying effect, the one they had here last month was pretty cool. The reason i said "they're not all that" is because i did not agree with the way we had to arrange the thing.

To make the story short we wantd to bring almaghrib from toronto to winnipeg, we contacted the sheikh who is originally from winnipeg, he refused to come till we had a specific no. of people for the audience i found that to be in bad taste..Also they're shouldnt be such a high price on tickets since the average person who comes to these seminars is a student, the sheikh said that the reason we want them to pay is because then more of them will come..i didnt agree with that..Anyways i really like what they do though, we need an institution we can refer to for guidance and Almaghrib has provided us that, they have done more for Muslims in US and Canada then ISNA has, but there is some room for improvement

And yeah, I believe the sheikhs make a huge difference. Our sheikhs, the ones that come here, are one of the most dedicated people out there. Especially, Sheikh Yaser Birjas. He NEVER dissapoints his audience when it comes to dedication and time. He'll take time off of his personal time and stay up with you till 3am if you're confused (And, trust me, its happened) and not bat an eyelid about it. Alhamdullilah, after hearing your story it just makes you wonder, ya know. I actually know one of the Sheikhs from Canada and he was really awesome too...hmmm... must be some other one.

The pricing. Well, I do agree with you, it is high.
However, (yeah I know I know), there are ways around that. But you'll have to find these resources, they don't come jumping into your lap. New Jersey, for example, provides MANY scholarships for students depending on finance, grades, or just write a short paper stating why you think you deserve a scholarship...
