    Computer Tech support

    kindly put all your computer hardware or software related questions in this thread.
    hopefully a more learned person can help us solve the problems.


    i have a prouble with my computer.

    my fn ,escape and other shotcut buttons dont work.
    i cant remember what exactly happend but all up sudden these buttons werent working any more.

    i personally think i pressed a button which disabled these functions.

    can anyone please help me out?

    A nice idea for a thread. I'll sticky it since i've had various problems in the past & i'm sure others here have too.


    Do you have an in-built laptop keyboard or an external wired/wireless keyboard?

    Some of the keys on my old laptop stopped working but that was because my little brother had damaged it. Are you certain that you did not physically damage the keys (i.e. spilled or condensed liquids)?


    If you really can't find a solution then luckily keyboards are cheap, only costing a few pounds/euros.

    Sorry i'm not much help. You probably know more about computers than me lol.





    As for my problem,
    Smoke was being emitted from my old laptop after a spark and there was a weird smell. The monitor also blue-screened and the charger was no longer charging. That was a few months ago and I have not used it since (currently using my extremely slow desktop that's around 7 years old).
    I assume its better to not risk turning the laptop on again?

    ...since electrical fires can be pretty troublesome.

      if you know for sure that you have not damaged the keyboard then it's a bug. for no obvious reason some of the buttons on the keyboard stops working suddenly. sometimes if you reboot your laptop it will work but one time i did have to restore the system to a previous point of time to get it fixed.

        i think it was caused because i accidently pressed a button or a combination of buttons.

                Have you tried reinstalling the drivers from your manufacturing website? Have you tried creating a new user account, with admin rights, to see if it works there? Are there are any physical keys that have disabled it? Have you tried reinstalling your operating system?
                Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

                  which drivers specifically are we talking about? all the drivers?
                  i havent tried the second one , maybe that will work.

                  i dont know which keys could have done it or which combination.
                  there is this one key scr lk. but that too can only be acces in combination with fn(the function is disabled).

                    Windows has ON-SCREEN keyboards, have you tried using that?

                              My android telephone does not show Pashto script correctly. Words containing typical Pashto letters appear broken. What should I do? ( Buying an iphone is not an option at the moment).
